Little more information. Why is it called it Track 1? Would it happen to be Track 01? Did you get this work from a Music CD? You have to rip the Music CD with a Music CD ripper program (in Windows CDex) and then rename the file in post production. You can't just copy music from a Music CD. It's in a...

Audacity is a slave to the computer running it. In the case of Windows, you need to select the recording device in Windows Control Panels first.

It's not saved. It updates while you play the file. If you pause the playback, it will give you a very accurate idea how many seconds and fractions you've played so far.>>Current Time is where you are in the song

Two possibilities. If you have an analog service and you're plugged into the Mic-In of your Windows Laptop computer, you lose. The Mic-In is a mono service and if you plug in stereo by accident, you only get Left -- if it works at all. The other possibility is you're using an older Audacity. Audacit...

If it's any consolation to you, Audacity 1.3 is the correct process. Audacity 1.2 was a too-simple, patch job.
