Re: Records only White Noise
We're good. The FFMpeg library makes it possible for Audacity to recognize, play, and export many more modern music file types than Audacity alone. I believe that's the software you need to directly manage Windows Media files and Apple AAC iPod format. Without that software, Audacity would either lo...

Re: Microphone PA System
In know this one in general terms. You don't need Audacity. You need to change the Windows Control Panels so the microphone is selected in the Playback control panel. If you do insist on putting Audacity in the middle, you could run the risk of delays and echos. Windows Control Panel http://audacity...

Noise Reduction Change (we're all doing anyway)
It's pretty common to amplify noise before making it a profile in Noise Reduction. Is it common enough to burn that permanently into the effect programming?

Re: AU File Numbering
I don't think anybody is expecting a rational ordering of files after several hours of editing. However, we get a number of complaints of crashes during a long recording and anyone opening up the folders would automatically conclude that the show is irreparably damaged just looking at a normal file ...

Re: Records only White Noise
I downloaded and installed the library necessary. Which is? Please don't post in generic terms. We need all the specific information we can get. It's generally not an Audacity problem when you can't record internet audio. The computer itself has to support it and it's been getting harder and harder...

Re: Noise when recording vinyl
The turntable system is a pure mechanical process. The disk revolves and causes the needle to vibrate. Anything else in the room causing vibration can make the needle vibrate, too. It doesn't have to be coming from the desk underneath the turntable. Loud enough sounds can cause the record itself to ...

It is an insanely bad idea to post an email address in clear text on the forum, so I removed it. We get a lot of Spam and so will you. If you insist on posting it, you may put it back by editing your post. It's an insanely bad idea to post an Audacity Project. It did arrive, but had bad data blocks ...

Re: Audacity cant find ffmpeg and lame library files
I wonder if you're just using the wrong plugin files. I did this twice so far and in each case, I downloaded the digital image file, clicked on it and it installed itself. I'm actually not sure where the plugins went. If you're using Audacity 1.3.12, you should go to that site and only use the lame ...
