Re: Click/Breathing/Noise not sure what to call it removal h

Yes, it will take forever, but select each peak and Control-L to reduce it to zero, or Amplify to some negative number like -30 or so. You can follow Steve's recipe and that will be faster than doing them one by one. I don't know a good automated way to get rid of those. Pops are one thing, but your...

@steve

Did you ever produce a reverse noise gate? If the sound is too loud, it dips. That might be valuable here.

Re: Click/Breathing/Noise not sure what to call it removal h

You're too close to the microphone and you're popping your Ps. That's a little rough to get rid of in post production, but I'd start with a High Pass Filter. [time passes] That's not going to work. There's too much damage during the pop and the common tricks don't work. We'll see what others think, ...

Re: Starlogic turntable, no music

Close Audacity. Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. You should see the USB "something" listed there. Select it and you should see the blue ball bouncing meter move with the record sound. Then open Audacity > Preferences and select the same thing, or Core Audio. Restart A...

Re: No Wave Pattern

You mean the vertical red line? Yes, that's the recording time pointer. That works with the horizontal time line to tell you how much work you have recorded. The important one is the blue waves. That represents the actual show. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg That is what a norma...

Re: Using 1.2 Audacity/Question about using Skype

It's totally possible to record Skype calls, but it's not free. Most people find they can record one side of the conversation with Audacity. To record both sides -- each on its own track for processing and production, you need a software package that was designed to do that. Both Pamela Business and...

You can put it back if you want, but I removed your email address from the posting. We get tons of spam on the forum (even though it doesn't look like it) and it will destroy your email address. In any event, we won't be writing you back. The forum is a dialog and we need everybody to see it. You kn...

Re: Playback speed

Scrubbing is a feature request. You can play at higher than normal speed with the speed control to the right of the Green Arrow on the lower control band. However if you know what you're looking for, you can click in the time band and Audacity will play from that point. If you're looking for silence...

Re: Trying to record audio in Audacity

Audacity is a complete slave to what Windows is doing. You need to set your preferences in the Windows Control Panels first, then launch Audacity and set its preferences. Not the other way around. Re: LADSPA plugins don't work after install

Whenever people start having wacky system problems like this, we push them over to Audacity 1.3.12. http://audacityteam.org/download/ Audacity 1.2 is really old and hasn't been updated, patched, or corrected in a very long time. Be sure and get the lame and FFMpeg from the same place you get the pro...
