Re: Is this considered multi-track recoeding?
No, that's when you record six tracks at once. You're overdubbing. The process for that is to put the MP3 music into audacity first and then use that as a playback guide track to record everything else on additional tracks. The process for that is different in Windows than it is on Macs, so we need ...

Re: Audacity disables OTHER use of my speakers
Do you record from the internet? That complicates things. Without uninstalling Audacity, go into Windows Control Panels and make sure the system thinks it's playing to the speakers and not anything else. Do you have Skype? That makes it even more entertaining. Skype likes to reassign sound pathways ...

Re: corrupted .auf file
So, always always always save your WAV! Export, but yes. I went for a very long time doing entertainment grade voice captures and sound processing without using Audacity Projects at all. There is another, slightly more complex version of that. Don't step on your original work. We get people posting...

Re: Record one track while listening to another
It crashes more than any other program that I have. I think we missed the boat here. let me re-write that. My computer programs crash all the time, but Audacity crashes way more than most. Audacity may be one of the few programs you run that uses high memory. If you have a bad memory stick in your ...

Re: is it possible to hear my vocal track while recording ?
If you're recording your vocal, you shouldn't hear it from the speakers. That causes problems. Wear headphones or earbuds.I cannot hear my vocal from speakers.

Re: Line in Overload
I was expecting a 25% reduction in waveform but it seems a lot less. You're talking yourself into a broken sound card or a damaged sound pathway. If you didn't get a reduction to 25% (-12dB), then something is broken. That's consistent with other symptoms -- particularly that business with the volu...

Re: v1.26 or v1.3.12 beta for Windows 7?
it's more like converting TV into a book. That's good. Can I use that? Why did you want to convert music into MIDI? MIDI isn't a sound format but it sometimes appears like that because you click on it and it plays. What it's really doing is playing the piano built into your computer. Play the file ...

Re: No Sound After Converting
While you're recording, does Audacity look something like this... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg If not, then you're not actually making a recording in Audacity. It's possible to configure Windows so all the sound systems seem to work, but Audacity doesn't get any music. Windows...
