Re: Error While Opening Sound Device
Windows should recognize a plain, vanilla microphone even if it doesn't know about fancy sound tools on your particular microphone. The fact that it doesn't arrive at all suggest something is broken. The USB port on the computer, the cable, or the mic itself. Plug in a thumb drive to make sure the U...

Re: Noise Reduction, a Judgement Call
Our old friends Fletch and what's-his-name. That makes sense. Certainly noise at 3KHz will drill holes in your ears compared to noise in other places. I hadn't thought about configuring the profile.....
And what about the tools in Audacity Alpha...since you mentioned it.

Re: Cutting up long tracks - a few simple questions
See, now if you were in Auadcity 1.3.12, they have a tool called Analyze > Regular Interval Labels. It will place them every three minutes for you.

Re: Error While Opening Sound Device
Does the microphone have a driver package you need to load? Typically, those go in before you plug in the microphone. If Windows Control Panels don't recognize the microphone, you're pretty much out of luck. Is there any way to plug the microphone into a different computer? Simple microphones like t...

Re: Cutting up long tracks - a few simple questions
I think some of the instructions can be a little too extreme. You have one long track that you want to break up into songs, right? Put a label at the beginning of each song. Select or click on the start of each song in the blue waves time line and press Control-B. When you're done, File > Export Mul...

Re: custom made deadcat for large diaphragm mic
I heard from the production guy on the fourth floor. "It was a loofah washcloth that you could put your hand inside. I just slipped the recorder inside. I found that the loofah material was fairly acoustically transparent, though not as much so as a proper zeppelin fur which is what will do the...

Re: Recording internally
If your computer is new and it's settings don't line up with those in the wiki, then you may not be able to do this without adding software like Total Recorder. The object of those instructions is to record from Mix-Out, Stereo-Mix, or What-U-Hear. In effect, that folds back the playback system into...

Re: volume automatically lowers while recording
You can't plug your amp into the Mic jack. Some people manage to pull that off, but not many. The two are not compatible with each other. Use a UCA-202 (or similar) instead. The amp out is "line level" and so is the UCA-202. Turn Video Conferencing services off in your computer to get rid ...
