There's no notch filter other than the download one, right? Nothing built-in?

Re: Noise Reduction, a Judgement Call
I love the clip. A terrific announcing voice that in real life sounds like he's from North Carolina. "Dammit. Ah knew ah was going to say that." It's not that pronounced, but I can still get him to one or two states no trouble. It gets much more serious during musical performances. There y...

Re: PopMute Before and After
I like that the "skirts" of the active segment can be tuned so not only the plosive blast goes away, but the slight click before and after as well. That example is far from what I can do with more effort. You can still hear I didn't get the delays quite right. Given that there is no valuab...

Re: batch editing
Certainly not in Audacity 1.2.
Audacity 1.3.12 has a "Chains" system in which some restricted tools can be automated -- chained to one another.

Re: Recording phone interviews
There is a Production faction to all this as well. Note that you never hear "We can't understand you can you call back?" on one of the grownup shows? That's because the producer calls the interviewee ahead of time and makes sure they're talking on a land-line phone and not a ratty cellphon...

Re: Recording phone interviews
Land Line telephones have a thing called Sidetone. Designed at the dawn of telephone technology, it feeds a little of your own voice back to your ear to help you judge how loud you're speaking. It's the thing that's missing on cellphones which is why they're so like speaking into a little piece of w...

Re: How to record from different format
You can sometimes tell what's going on by right-click the music file > Properties > Advanced. Read the format if it tells you.

Re: Noise Reduction, a Judgement Call
OK. All this haystack, Fletcher-Munson, response tailoring stuff is lovely, but at the end of the day, isn't it true that noise correction is not applied to voices? In fact, success in noise reduction depends largely on recognizing when someone is speaking and not applying any correction at all -- t...

PopMute Before and After
Remember this? Heavy suppression of the pops without affecting the rest of the performance at all.
