Re: Clipping noise, except its not clipping?

Does your sound card work normally? If you plug a cheap computer microphone into it, does it work OK? Does it play a simple YouTube video with good sound. Recording internet audio is something of a trick and many services and devices have to be holding hands. If there is something wrong with the sou...

Re: Audio effects

To take echo as one example. Your bathroom degenerates into infinite echoes and reflections very rapidly and no software package can hope to keep up either putting echo in or taking it out. That's why echo generation is a religion. "My echoes sound much better than yours." You do have to b...

Re: Audacity Adds Hiss to exported WAV

Pops at transitions can come from several places. Past software editors actually creating damage, if you have any DC at all on your shows, they will be almost impossible to edit without some pop or click at the transition points. Remove with Effect > Normalize > Remove DC. Do it to the clips before ...

Re: No Sound!!

I'm assuming an analog microphone. You can have a plug-in USB microphone and those are very different. Many USB microphones suffer from low volume, that's why I ask.

Re: No Sound!!

You need to go into the Windows Control Panels and make sure the Microphone is the uncontested source for recording. This can suffer if you like to record internet radio shows or you like and use Skype or equivalent. All mess with the sound pathways. Then, after you straighten that out (and make sur...

Re: Audio effects

The problem with software that can simulate these conditions is the same problem people have making a highly controlled, orderly, precise digital system generate random numbers. Anything you can do with a digital system can easily be undone with a computer cranking long enough. Not so with chaos in ...

Dalek Voice

Say I want to post a Dalek Voice Filter. How do I know if there isn't a Dalek voice already posted?

Re: No Sound!!

We live on fine details. Exactly what are you trying to record and how is it connected? Pretend I'm trying to buy the same equipment you have.

Re: Notch Filter

Yes, I know what the Q or Quality of a notch is. Basically the ratio of peak to width. Excellent. Turns out I didn't need it, but it was a close call. I had a damaged clip with a consistent peak of garbage around 15,000 Hz.

Thank you.

Re: No Sound from Bluetooth Headphones

No, but I know where I'd look.

Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Output and make sure your headphones or the chip set or software package is selected.

Close that and Go > Utilities > Audio Midi Setup and see of those settings make sense to you. Then restart Audacity.
