Re: Splitting audio sections
Open the first music file and Import all the others. They should pile up on top of one another in new timelines. You can then use the Time Shift Tool (two sideways arrows) to push each song sideways into position and the Envelope Tool (two white arrows and bent blue line) to fade each track as neede...

Re: What is wrong with the file?
Audacity doesn't recognize MPEG4 files. Download and install Audacity 1.3.12... http://audacityteam.org/download/ Then download and install the FFMpeg software from the same download location. Restart Audacity and it should play the file. You can have both Audacity versions as long as you don't use ...

Re: converting midi to audio files
You don't actually convert MIDI to Audio. The two are very different. You cause MIDI to "play" a fake instrument and then record the instrument. The quality of the performance depends on the quality of the fake instrument software, not the quality of the MIDI. This is a long posting from s...

Re: Submit your EQ Curves
they won't be visible enough on the Forum. How would we make them visible on the forum? What I'm after is a Page One that is edited by the elves and lists the user posted curves. This is a problem with all the threads that are in multiple decades of postings and no one has any idea where anything i...

Re: Can't get Hardware Playthrough to work for iMac
You should be able to get the front panel headphone jack working with Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Output > Built-In Output. You may need to change the Audacity Preferences as well. Restart Audacity if you make any system changes. That may be all that's needed to get the USB devic...

Re: Possible to "Increase" Bit Rate?
The fidelity of the music will never be higher than 1/2 the worst sample rate. So 4KHz is about right. It doesn't matter what you do to the digital format after right now, the music was chopped off at 4KHz and there's nothing higher than that. You can pull the music into Audacity and File > Export >...

We're pleased you got your show back. What is it? It increases the richness of the experience a bit if we know something of the job although there's no requirement at all to do that. We've had any number of teens creating mashups, Irish Grandmothers recording historical documents, Thousands of peopl...

We're happy you got your show back. In the future, please try and avoid bouncing the conversation in and out of Private Messaging. The forum is a dialog with multiple people playing across many time zones and it's rough to help when pieces of the thread are missing. We also try to keep a single thre...

Re: Audacity 1.3.12 Crashing while recording on G5 powerpc
Like I said, that's probably not it, but editors and some instances of Photoshop are the only programs that actively and regularly use all available memory. They're coal mine canaries and will spot a failing memory stick before anything else. when recording, the program crashes every time within a s...
