Re: Merging/Recovering .AU files

It's worse than you think. Audacity creates those files alternating stereo left and stereo right. Audacity is not a surveillance program. You can record for hours and hours, but you can't do it on a standard, well-used PC or Mac. The recovery tools in Audacity 1.3 are very much better than the ones ...

Re: Flanger effect when recording

Odd distortion several seconds into a recording can be caused by Windows conferencing services..

Windows Enhanced Sound

But that usually doesn't happen until Vista or Win7. I don't think XP had that.

Re: reducing the reverb

Reverb/echo are pretty deadly. There are versions of Convolver that claim to be able to tighten up a loose and echoey show, but I've never seen it work. Nothing in Audacity will do that.

Re: Problem Playing Albums on iPod

You don't have to suffer with the enormous file sizes in your iPod. Set iTunes Import Preferences to AAC, iTunes Plus and close Preferences. Select the song(s) and Advanced > Create AAC version. That way you can have the full, clear file for making CDs and the compressed, slimmed-down file for your ...

If you tried all the usual suspects and it didn't help, then your only option may be money-based software..

Nowhere is it written that computers have to supply Mix-Out and the newer ones don't.

And just because I can hear the storm clouds gathering. You didn't save AUP sound files. You saved Audacity Projects which you can't move from wherever you saved them and you can't separate from their associated _data folders.

Re: Audacity script to open .aup and export as aiff?

Audacity 1.3.12 has a "Chains" tool which is another way of saying Batch Processing. It's fairly limited, but you might be able to do it that way.

I can't find the wiki page...

Re: remove clapping from audio

i need a step by step how to fix this. So do we. I think the best you can do is use Steve's Pop Mute filter from here... http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=122958#p122958 All that does is sense severe level peaks -- like a clap -- and reduce them to a lower value -- which you can choose ...

Re: Overdubbing troubles

In Audacity 1.3.12, there is a setting called "Play tracks while recording new ones." You should be in Audacity 1.3.12 for any sort of serious work.
