Re: Numark TTi
You should be using the Audacity 1.3.12, not 1.2. http://audacityteam.org/download/ You posted in the Audacity 1.2 forum. Anyway, open the song and Effect > Amplify > OK. That's the short form. Most of us don't actually do that because you could run into problems if you need filtering or noise reduc...

Re: Freezes during export
project file Probably not. Audacity Projects, particularly if you used external sound files consist of multiple different files. That's why they're so hard to move. It's dangerous to say "The Project File." That AUP thing is just the beginning of what could be thousands. I tried reinstall...

Re: LAME MP3 Encoder on Mac 10.6 with multiple users
While the lame and FFMpeg software resides on the /Application folder, the configuration files are tied to the user. /Users/koz/Library/Application Support/audacity/audacity.cfg. You might be able to make use of a "portable" version of Audacity. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Portable_A...

Re: Recording with a Line in cable but no sound
It's insanely dangerous to post an email address on the forum. We get a lot of visits where software looks for addresses to send spam. You can put it back if you like. Where exactly did you plug your guitar cable and what kind of computer do you have? When you make your recording, do you get a wavy ...

Re: Help for a newbie
Since you already have an MP3 file, you probably should be using a different editor. It's too easy to cause sound damage by doing it in Audacity.

Re: wav files not going to Music Library
Part of the Export dialog is a window where you can tell the system where to put the file.
As a desperation move, can you drag the files into the Library?

Re: Freezes during export
Did you put a date in your filename? Operating systems hate that. Try the filename again with only legal characters: Upper and lower case letters, numbers, underscore and dash. Today's date is 20110130, not 1/30/11.

Re: wav files not going to Music Library
Audacity will not Save a music file. If you want a music file of your show, you must tell Audacity to Export one.
File > Export > WAV ... 16 bit.

Re: Turning an mp3 into multiple files
You could force it to do that, yes, but you probably shouldn't. Re-editing MP3 files always causes sound damage unless you use a dedicated MP3 editor. And now we're all going to wait until I find the editor we always recommend. I didn't put a bookmark there. Google while I'm looking. You can't do sp...

Re: Remove Limiting
It's theoretically possible to perfectly compensate for soft clipping, but practically it's near impossible. I think I was more fascinated with the apparent serious change in the waveform -- definitely as on the tin -- but little or no change to the voice. I'm going "what's wrong with this pic...
