Re: No sound playback
Since you're teaching a course in this. You can open up the Audacity AUP file in a text editor and read it. It will tell you where your music files are expected to be. Then you can go looking and make sure those files exist. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/aup1.jpg See down about line 7 there is a lo...

You don't have to take the old one off. 1.2 and 1.3 will co-exist -- although don't try to run both at once. Audacity 1.3 Projects will not open i...

That's a really bad way to do it. There are others.

Everybody assumes that all computers can do this and that's not true. Some computers have these services left out and you have to use a money-based software product.

Re: Record Electronic Drums
You are probably recording your built-in microphone, not the drum instruments. It probably records the dog barking, too. What kind of computer is it?

Re: how to convert stereo to mono
The unprotecting software may not have done a particularly good job, or it didn't remove all the protections. That's not normal audio.

Re: Audacity 1.3.12 freeze on Mac during Save, lost temp fil
I find it strange that the entire computer froze, that's not supposed to happen in OS X. The question is, why did it crash on saving? Did you have any "/" characters in the file name? Did you fill up your hard drive? Go > Utilities > Disk Utilities. Click on your system drive and read the...
Re: Win 7
It could be a combination of problems. Not everybody needs to use High Memory -- the last of the memory sticks. If you hit something that does (Photoshop Gaussian Blur, etc) blammo, there goes the computer.
Do the Microsoft test.

And way down on the bottom of all this, you can't just strip a voice from a mixed music presentation, amplify it and put it back.

I don't know that you can rescue that. It's almost not an audio signal. This is normal...

How did you get the show between Windows Media and that file? If it's protected music, you can't just drag it.
