Re: Dangit! Running ACX check ruins my Noise Floor!
the other two are literally just trimmed sections from larger chapter files I think I got it. Each individual thing you submit has to pass ACX Check. It's not a guarantee that each slice from a chapter which passes will also pass. Particularly with RMS (loudness) which is kind of a rolling average....

learning ... the mastering process for my recorded book Have you already recorded it? The whole thing? There is a new ACX Check analysis tool available. If the one you used looks like this ... https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/ACX-Check_Success2.jpg ... then you have the old one. The new one ...

Re: How to set RMS on recorded chapters
If your ACX-Check looks like this. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/ACX-Check_Success2.jpg Then you have the old one. There is a new, faster version with a shorter response panel. If you're using Audacity 2.4.1, the older version may stop working. https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_An...

Re: How to set RMS on recorded chapters
this process (filter, rms normalize, limiter) is quite elegant and worked every time to pass the ACX check. Close. Audiobook Mastering guarantees Peak and RMS (Loudness). You can put floor sweepings in there and pass those two. But you may not pass noise. Noise is very troublesome. Anyone who has s...

Re: Function Key Problems
Preference change on the wired keyboard does give me the different Audacity keys, F1 and F5, specifically. This office machine doesn't use anything else. Brightness happens at the monitor and I have a separate volume control with large black volume knob. I may leave this machine this way. Meanwhile,...

Re: Function Key Problems
The laptops, all three, default to the jobs printed on the keys. Volume on the right, screen brightness on the left and keyboard backlight in the middle. The one key setup that many Mac users are familiar with is the volume control sound effect. That does vary with user. Poit Poit Poit Poit as you g...

Re: Seamless loop of engine sound
merge them together You don't have to merge them. They will all play at once (unless you prevent it with the MUTE and SOLO buttons) and Audacity will smash them all together into one sound when you export an audio file. It's still not easy or fun. MonoRawRecordingExtended.wav Screen Shot 2020-06-18...

Function Key Problems
Audacity 2.4.1 Mac Mini 10.9.5 Macbook Air 10.13.6 I had occasion to go back and forth multiple times between the Time Shift Tool and the Selector I-Beam. The two jobs claim to have Function Key equivalents. The function keys associated with those two don't always work and it seems to be machine dep...

Re: No Reading on ACX Check
It was always so reassuring. Maybe too reassuring. Since the testing was not produced by ACX, the best we can actually do is "The clip apparently passes ACX, in our opinion." A good deal less fuzzy-warm. So we left it out. The other readings were not reflected in actual ACX specifications...

Re: Seamless loop of engine sound
The best I could do was select and copy a stable part of the sound > New Track > Paste. Effect > Invert. Effect> Reverse. Use the Time Shift Tool to shove the new track so it lines up with the original And even then I needed to go into the magnifier tools to fine tune the waves. It never sounded per...
