There's the rule of recording it right the first time because you can't actually fix this stuff in post production. Are you in the wrong Audacity? My Audacity 1.3.12 has the ability, via drop-down menus to the right of the times to select formats that get down to .001 seconds.

Are they copy protected files? Windows Media supports copy protection as does iTunes.

Oh and you need to do all this in Audacity 1.3.12. Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported, updated or patched.
