I don't know that anybody ever gave it the full sound test run, but now that I have one...

The musicians on the forum seem to like it.

Re: bit rate

No. The bit rate is just the amount of data available to transmit or store music. Uncompressed music has a bit rate that is stunningly high. I have a WAV sound file that clocks in at 1,536,000 bits per second. It's a perfect recording of a piano. If I wanted to listen to that clip on my iPod or post...

Re: waveforms lopped off at top - audio distorted

Sooner or later we're going to push you over to Audacity 1.3.12 from 1.2. Audacity 1.2 is no longer supported, patched, or corrected. Did you get a new computer?

Re: waveforms lopped off at top - audio distorted

piano2.wav is a technically perfect, six second piano solo. It's some of my best work. If that works and your sound files don't, your sound files may be broken. If nothing works, then we have an Audacity problem, and no, un-installing Audacity will not always clear a problem. Click on the link on my...

Re: Audacity for Mac recongnizing my Audacity PC files

Just for fun, how does Audacity deal with the AUP file characteristics and external sound files between platforms? Even if you do manage to corral all your files and push them over to the "other" machine, the addresses are going to be wrong. /koz/Music/piano2.wav on a Mac turns into kozMus...

Re: waveforms lopped off at top - audio distorted

More important than the tops being lopped off, is the middle of the waveform in the middle of the Audacity timeline? Note the left of this wave is slighlty lower than the right. pop2.jpg Do you have an error like that but up rather than down? Try downloading piano2.wav from here: http://www.kozco.co...

Re: Itunes: no normalize

somebody knows if Apple is in charge of the conversion from original to encoded files ? You are. Go into iTunes Preferences > CD Import Settings > select a compression scheme. I used AAC Plus. If you import an uncompressed music file, You can select it and Advanced > Create AAC Version. iTunes will...

Re: Case sensitivity

Macs can be set up to be case aware and case critical like a linux machine, but it's not the default. This came up earlier and I tested it. When you format an external drive, it will ask you if you want it to pay attention to upper case. The default is to not care.

Re: GRAVELY disappointed with Audicity !!!!!!!!!

Where did you get your Audacity program from? This is the official download site. http://audacityteam.org/download/ People have taken advantage of the Audacity high popularity by offering the software in a bait and switch activity. People find they really downloaded and installed a competing product...
