Re: Recording on two tracks
You should be using Audacity 1.3.12, even though it says "Beta" software. If you upgrade your machine to Intel, you may find that Audacity 1.2 is not supported at all. http://audacityteam.org/download/ You can put both versions on your machine safely. Audacity 1.2 Projects open in 1.3. Aud...

Re: Cant record from CD
You need to record from a special service usually called something like Stereo Mix. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer It's not simple and many Windows computers can't do it without money-based software. What most people do is create a perfect, quick copy of th...

Re: recordings get lost
Why on earth that risky setting is the default one baffles me. It was a hard fought battle to get that. Your application is an unfortunate side issue. The real issue was opening up a show and Effect > Amplify. Of course you want it applied to the whole show. What else could you possibly want? The e...

Re: Bass Rolloff
You can hear the difference between the common filters. I have a field mixer that can select between 80Hz, 100Hz and 160Hz, The sound getting more and more stiff as you whack off more and more of the low end. If you have wind noise or other low rumble, these filters can save your show.

Newer Windows machine? Windows machines are not entertainment devices, they're corporate management tools and they come out of the box all set to Skype into the company headquarters in Schenectady. You need to turn all that stuff off. Windows Enhanced Sound http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.ph...

Re: Random skipping when recording
Let's try something a little different. I'm on my Windows XP machine at work. You have a hard drive light, right? It flashes when your hard drive turns on or does any work? Set up for a plain recording from your sound card -- it doesn't much matter what or from where or even if there is any sound th...

You may have unwrapped too far. The AUP file is standard XML Extensible Markup Language and it follows standard opening and closing tags format. "Hello, my name is <name> Koz </name>. Knowing that, you can intelligently unwind an AUP file like this simple one: http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/aup...

Re: Identify & Remove Extraneous Noises?
how to identify and remove extraneous noises from live recordings. You usually don't. There are two main problems. By the time most people realize they need noise removal, it's too late. the noise has already overwhelmed the show and that's the end of the story. There was a poster this week that wa...

Re: Can't find installed Lame or AAC Lib
It's a known problem that Snow Leopard does not support Audacity 1.2. I have one install that refuses to open at all. I think the problem comes when you "upgrade" to Snow Leopard and then try to "upgrade" to Audacity 1.3.12. Audacity preferences hang around and can throw mud in t...

Actually, it sounds like you're trying to start a business on somebody else's cheap labor.
