Re: Flipping stereo channels?

1. I feel a little better that reversing channels wasn't completely obvious. You think? Audacity sloshes back and forth between stereo and mono too easily for my taste. The explanation doesn't allow for mistakes, like what happens in a mono show with an expected mono export if you touch the pan con...

Re: Audacity will no longer open....

This may be where history is important. Did you Install Win7 or did you "upgrade" to Win7? Did the original machine have Audacity 1.2 on it before you upgraded? Flesh this out. We need to taste and feel your machine since it's obviously confused.

Re: noise/static removal

And just because you didn't specify, you can do amazing things to older 78s by using the right needle. LP needles are smaller than ones needed for 78 and they ride on the bottom of the 78 groove picking up every dust mote and cat hair. No, they didn't sound like that while you were playing them and ...

Re: Exported WAV files can't be silenced

Try turning off Dithering in the Audacity preferences. It's always a danger sign when people complain about this because dithering "noise" is really , really tiny. What is the show level that it's destroying your work? If the show capture, the project specifications and the export are the ...

Re: Registry edit in Windows 7 to get "Stereo Mix"?

Brief, maybe. But not angry. I read that as you made a recording with your cables and then the playback was very substandard. What you meant was you were monitoring the "loop" live with a Y cable and that didn't sound right. Different. The computer makers did two things that make perfect s...

Re: combine 2 tracks with incr vol on only 1 track

I don't like those controls. They're a little magic.

Split the track and use the Envelope Tool on one of the tracks to dip the volume as needed. It's less useful to boost the volume. Then Make Stereo Track and Export.

That business where it works for a while and then turns to trash could be Windows Enhanced Services.

Re: Registry edit in Windows 7 to get "Stereo Mix"?

As we have said multiple times, Stereo Mix is a dance between Windows, the Sound Card itself and the Software Drivers. You can't generate a global fix in just one place that's going to work for everybody. If you have a fancy, talented sound card, it's going to register in multiple places in the Regi...

Re: Flipping stereo channels?

The drop-down menus in the panel to the left of the blue waves has provision to split, assign, and then recombine tracks. Do this before you Export Multiple.

OK. That doesn't seem to work. I wonder why.
