Re: Volume waving up and down

You may have no show. Chris's Compressor does a remarkable job of evening out volume variations at the default settings. If Chris couldn't deal with the damage, then the show may be beyond help. compress dynamics plugin You got this from here, right? Chris's Compressor http://pdf23ds.net/software/dy...

Re: Compare 2 files to discover audio delay

If there were two cameras at the same conference and one has an audio delay, then the problem is sound sync on one camera, not between the two sound tracks. Did I get that? Are you saying one camera is at the back of the auditorium and thus has a sound sync issue? You don't need Audacity for that, y...

Re: VOB/Ac->ogg..loss of Loudness/volume

Video Objects have theater volume ranges and aren't mixed down to "Popular Music" sound levels. AC3 has provision for explosions and other effects that are enormously louder than the dialog. Unless your software compensates for that, the show may be really low -- certainly compared to that...

Re: Transfering from Cassette to MAC OS X

I/we can fill in details as we go. "lame" software is needed so you can produce an MP3 sound file. Audacity out of the box will not do that due to licensing restrictions. MP3 gets its small sound files and high compression by creating damage to the show. It's permanent. Once you create an ...

Re: Transfering from Cassette to MAC OS X

Sit down and breathe. Audacity 1.2 may not be the best choice for production any more. It's no longer supported, patched, and corrected -- it's really old -- so we've been urging people to download and install Audacity 1.3.12 from here... http://audacityteam.org/download/ You can put both versions o...

Re: Two layers recorded produces no sound?!?

Does it start working if you listen on headphones? You can have monitoring problems that do this. If you damage a stereo recording just exactly right, it will not play on a mono speaker system. You need to set Edit > Preferences> Recording > Overdub - Play tracks while recording new ones. Koz

Re: Two layers recorded produces no sound?!?

I would probably start by not using Audacity 1.2. Audacity 1.2 stopped being supported, developed, patched and corrected a long time ago, and it can have problems with modern computers. Grab Audacity 1.3 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ If you use Lame and FFMpeg software, get those from...

Re: Audacity Weird Recording Issue. Please Help!!

Running both the recording and playback sides of a PC at the same time can be an adventure. They've gotten away from this, but Windows Sound Control Panels used to have separate record and play sides and you could select similar services in each one. For example, you could select the microphone on t...
