Re: Recording Muted When User Changed
To give you an idea how this works, we have machines at work where someone is recording a voice clip for a production and the studio is using a separate network login (user) to process animations and pictures for a completely different job. Same machine. Only when the computer slows down do they eve...

Re: Recording Muted When User Changed
I don't know that there is a resolution because the Mac OS isn't broken. OS-X is based on UNIX, a multitasking, multiuser OS, where you can have multiple people on the machine doing different tasks and not bump into each other. That isolation means only one of you is going to get the computer hardwa...

Re: Help w/exporting
Just to cover the bases, you have Audacity preferences set for 44100, 16-bit, Stereo, and you Export > WAV (Microsoft) Signed 16-bit PCM, right?
Please tell me you're not trying to create MP3 files in the middle of this process.

To recap: You downloaded and installed Audacity 1.3.12. Had you a version of Audacity loaded before? Which one?
Computer type, Operating System?

Re: How apply a chain to a set of files works
It's only obvious if you use Audacity in non-batch mode. Audacity has never been able to "Save" an MP3 file. It's a common problem that people "Save" an AUP file thinking that's a sound file. It's not and you have to go to some trouble to get an MP3 Export. If you never did strai...

Re: Volume waving up and down
You may have more problems than that. It is practically a certainty that you should stop using Audacity 1.2 and install Audacity 1.3.12 from here... http://audacityteam.org/download/ You can install both versions, but only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 Projects will not open in 1.2. If you have si...

You can Control-Click on the file > Get INFO and it should tell you what the long-form filename is. You can also get the finder to show you all the file extensions.

Re: heavy clipping distortion on 24-bit export
There are ideas for improving effects menu ordering without creating inconvenience to the majority of users One of the ideas to make the system much more efficient was to hot assign individual effects to hot keys. Do you use Noise Reduction 200 times (and it's not that hard), then assign it to a ke...

Re: Compare 2 files to discover audio delay
What is the job? Working in a vacuum makes my ears pop. Nowhere is it written that these were two digital camcorders, either. Yes, I can think of a way to weapons-grade cheat if the files were identical. Look for the first peak between two fairly high values and then look for the same peak at the s...

Re: Compare 2 files to discover audio delay
I know of no software that can do that. Sometimes Steve can write software to do a simple job, but this is not a simple job. We do not want to recognize a single clear sound like a drum beat or a single bell. You want to recognize live performances and compare two of them. And the delay can can be m...
