Re: Audacity can't find ffmpeg and lame files

Correct my oversimplistic view, but isn't it normal to install Audacity in /Applications like this... Picture 1.png What's preventing the two files from living in Plug-ins or one of the other folders? I'm typing on a Leopard machine, and everything worked perfectly. On this machine, I'm an Administr...

Re: HELP !!!!! PLEASE......

Audacity 1.3.12 is the current champ.

Do you have a certified, authorized, documented, Stereo Line-In on your machine? Most Windows laptops don't. They have "Mic-In" and that is a serious problem. It overloads very, very easily and it's mono.

Re: how do I flip left/ right stereo channels?

This may not work in Audacity 1.2. you should be using Audacity 1.3.12.

http://audacityteam.org/download/

You can install both, but only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 Projects will not open in 1.2.

Re: How to "normalize" volume of voices?

Chris's Compressor appears as "Compress Dynamics."

Try it with the default settings and then increase the first number if the effect isn't enough. I use 0.7 Compression Ratio for a little stiffer sound.

Re: CD Audio Track title - wav file

Plain Music CDs do not carry song titles. When you put a purchased CD into a computer, the computer goes on-line to look up the titles based on the size and order of the songs. There is a way to make a mixed-use CD which can carry titles. http://club.myce.com/f59/cd-text-song-title-isnt-displaying-h...

Re: why does it suddenly just stop working?

Audacity will do that if it runs out of hard drive space. How much free space have you got? When was the last time you defragged the drive? Audacity will not run into a fragmented hard drive. It's good to keep 10% to 20% of a production hard drive free. Defrag -- Right Click Start > Explore > Right ...

Re: Soundcard not listed under "Devices" when setting up

Macs don't do that. You have to install the Soundflower software and set it up.

Re: How to "normalize" volume of voices?

You're not in Effect > Compressor. You're in Effect > Normalize (or Amplify). Neither of these is going to do you any good. You might also consider Chris's Compressor. Chris's Compressor http://pdf23ds.net/software/dynamic-compressor/ This is a "musical" compressor that was designed to sou...

Re: effects

You must be stopped and not paused, and you must select some music before the effects become active. The last thing you must do is stop using Audacity 1.2 Audacity 1.2 is not supported on modern Macs and can be unstable if it runs at all. Get Audacity 1.3.12 from here... http://audacityteam.org/down...
