Re: Raspiness filter?
You can still work on Interp and Presentation. Most people talk in a monotone with very little expression. Announcers/Presenters are pretty much the exact opposite. They have wild swings to the pitch, force, and expression in their voices and that's why they still get paid to stand in front of a mic...

Re: Recording from Output & Input Simultaneously
Yes, Audacity 1.3.12, and of course, you'll be wearing headphones to take one complication out of the picture. The Mac internal mic isn't dreadful, particularly if you have an SSD instead of a spinning disk. The computer becomes remarkably quiet. I can record both the audio out and also the internal...

Re: Raspiness filter?
That's what I was afraid of. You don't have a raspy, distinctive voice. You just overloaded the microphone signal. Are you in Audacity 1.3.12 like you should be? If you are, then open that clip and View > Show Clipping. See all those red lines? That's all the places your voice got too loud and the d...

Re: wav files cannot be played back
That's even simpler. Put the CD in and OK the opening dialog. Drag the files to the icon and then drag the icon to where the trash used to be. There should be a Burn icon there.
Being compulsive, I double-click the empty disk icon to a list window and count the files before I burn.

Re: Recording digital piano
If you don't try to listen to anything -- turn all the monitoring off, disconnect the headphones, shut down everything but the show pathway, can you make a short, straight recording with no noise? It takes a special mixer with at least two independent sound channels to monitor record, listen to over...

Re: weird clipping issue
it's just a simple connection from a tape player to the line-in. Nothing about a Windows machine is simple. i have a windows desktop and i was using the mic-in. Can I assume a typo? "i was not using the mic-in..." You need to go into the Windows control panels and see if you can set sound...

Re: wav files cannot be played back
Finder > Preferences > Advanced > [x] Show All File Extensions. What you probably did was create a MyMusic.wav.wav file by accident. Is there any reason you're not using iTunes for burning? It seems like you're going through a ton of extra effort using software I've never heard of to make a Music CD...

Re: lots of fuzz
If the fuzz overtakes the voice, there isn't much hope. You need to be able to clearly understand the voice for any of the tools to work.

Re: Raspiness filter?
You might need to post a little bit of it so we can make an intelligent assessment. Export a representative 2-second sample as mono FLAC and post it here using the attachment tools on the bottom of the forum page. You can post longer clips (recommended) but you'll need to do it on an outside service...

Re: Input source
This may be a Windows problem, but we never lose an opportunity to get people out of Audacity 1.2. Audacity 1.2 is no longer support, patched, corrected or updated and hasn't been for a long time. Download and install Audacity 1.3.12 from here... http://audacityteam.org/download/ ... and use that. Y...
