Re: "Maximum" Amplify

If it's a theatrical presentation, you might make use of Chris's Compressor. Chris's Compressor http://pdf23ds.net/software/dynamic-compressor/ Chris designed his compressor to be musical. It makes the shows louder and suppresses volume variations within the show. It works so well you can forget you...

Re: can i display timecode from source????

You can have either SMPTE as a separate signal like this... http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=54222&p=132485&hilit=smpte+time+code#p132485 ..or you can have VITC which is SMPTE time burned into the top of the picture. You can have Frame Code which is what "DV" ...

Re: Help, recording streaming internet radio

I can hear the show I can see audacity recording but it records nothing "just a flat line". You can see it recording because you can see the bouncing red recording meters, like this? http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg If you don't get either one of those, then Audacity is...

Re: Using normalize and compression

To get voice tracks in their best quality, you should record them that way. Post production clean-up tools never get you back to perfect. They almost always sound like patch jobs -- particularly if you're new at it. There are no click-and-walk-away tools. Most common recording problems can't be fixe...

Re: Digital Recorder Direct into Audacity?

Anything the Mac recognizes as a sound device should work. Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. If the device appears on that list, then you're good to go, although it may be interesting to get the format right. Do you know what the digital format is on that device? Can you open th...

Re: Cassette to CD using Audacity on Mac OS X

I'm genetically pessimistic. I still have the original WAV files from a live theatrical voice capture I did last year and recording sessions before that. And they're backed up. Producers are fond of calling and saying, "Do you still have those sound clips we shot....? Yes, if everything goes ac...

Re: binaural audio problems

It's not unusual for us to tell people to dig into the Windows setup panels and turn everything fancy off. No Theater Effects and no Conferencing Services. Stop helping.

Re: Recording Cleanup Procedure?

I'm thinking this is a tough one. That would be Yes. Vocal Removal works by direction. Anything in the Left - Right middle of the performance goes. Frequently, the bass and drums go, too and there is a significant list of problems causing the tool to fail completely. You're talking about Vocal Isol...
