Re: stringing recovered files together
You can't easily paste them together because they go Left-Right-Left-Right. If you were in Audacity 1.3, they're not in numeric order. Download and install Audacity 1.3 and try the Disaster Recovery Tools. Audacity 1.2 had tools, but they were wimpy and frequently failed. http://audacityteam.org/dow...

Can you describe your computer? The microphone recommendations change depending on what kind of computer you have.

Re: Help! tracks playing simultaneously
If you have four tracks one above the other, they will play at the same time unless you prevent them. The Solo and Mute buttons on the left do this.
Solo kills all other tracks (you can select more than one).
Mute kills that track.

We know we're in trouble when people use the phrase "aup file" instead of Audacity Project. Projects can be thousands of individual files with the aup file being the show manager.
If you move the AUP without moving anything else, that's usually the end of the world.

Do you like to record internet Audio like Youtube? You need to turn those settings off in order to make a plain recording. The two Windows Control Panel settings are antithetical to each other. The best I can do is point you to the settings to achieve recording internet audio and tell you to follow ...

I appear to have disrupted the carefully balanced house of cards That's about the best description of this process I've heard in a long time. If you're on a newer Windows machine -- Vista or Win7 -- the computer will try to help you by automatically adjusting the microphone characteristics. Of cour...

Re: Frozen While Saving
Audacity 1.3 has greatly increased disaster recovery tools over 1.2, so the short answer is your show is toast, unless your 1.3 account can do anything with the files.

Audacity to normalize the whole narration. Messy choice of words, because "Normalize" is an Audacity tool with very roughly similar properties. Chris is a dynamic loudness processor, similar to the ones at radio stations. The elves once generated Chris's settings to almost exactly simulat...

Re: Odd "Track" behavior
I have to do it again. I was under the gun and didn't have a lot of time to stop and figure out why it didn't act like I was expecting it to. I was recording a stereo off-air signal. I'm perfectly clear why it doesn't work on a mono track, but just to throw philosophic mud in the game, why is it gra...
