Re: Feedback & Advice welcome and appreciated

Do we have a goal? Different goals have different production requirements. The voice has a little "recording in the kitchen" sound. Was this a home office with bare walls? Even though the Yeti is a directional microphone, it's not perfect and you will pick up reflections and echoes from th...

Re: Hit "Record" - Nothing Happens

I have to record a podcast tomorrow and I'm seriously out of luck here.
Do you still have the old laptop around? That may be your show until we can resolve this.

Re: I can't see File, Edit, View, etc at the top

View > Enter Full Screen.

The menu bar dips back into view when you cursor to the screen top.

Wait for the dip > View > Exit Full Screen.

Movie/video viewers and my "TV set" can do full screen as a normal setting.

Re: I can't see File, Edit, View, etc at the top

Odd that Audacity is covering up the menu bar. Does it come back if you click on the green ball upper left? Also try closing Audacity all the way and Shut Down your Mac. Not Restart. Shut it all the way down. Wait a bit (go make tea) and start with the power switch. Did you get a little spinning whi...

Re: How to set RMS on recorded chapters

I don't appear to have breakout box with a microphone port... I need to read through it again. You have the advantage of having the actual microphone in your hand. I have to imagine what's going on from the instructions. There are microphones such as the G-Track with a headphone connection in its b...

Re: how to piece together parts of mp3 songs

how to do this most basic task. You may be better off in a different editor. Audacity doesn't actually edit MP3. It converts MP3s into its own super high quality internal sound format and then makes whole new sound files when you're done. It's the making new ones that causes problems. MP3 gets its ...

Re: How to set RMS on recorded chapters

noise floor 76.7. (is this too quiet?) No. The Audiobook noise limit is -60dB and it's recommended you hit it at least five dB quieter than that at -65dB. You're at -76dB. These are the relationships. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=384351#p384351 It doesn't count if you go "Div...

Re: How to set RMS on recorded chapters

what do I plug the headphones into?
I rolled back through the forum messages and you never told us what your microphone or recording system is.

What is it? Descriptions and model numbers welcome.

Re: Audacity vs Zoom H4nPro recording issue

record on a flash card and then use a USB flash card reader Zooms also allow you to mount the internal card via a USB cable and transfer that way. There's good reasons to avoid computers during recording. An impressive number of forum posts would vanish without that computer. "What's that tick...

Re: USB Mic not working, please help

While not the best microphone in the world, they usually do something. Yes, the microphone is designed for 48 volt phantom power, but will usually struggle along with the 5 volts coming out of the USB system—assuming it's OK. That's not the USB adapter that comes with the microphone kit, is it? That...
