...except yours goes up instead of down?
That's DC Offset or battery voltage mixed into your show. It's an electronic mistake and your soundcard may be broken.

Re: How Can I Remove Loud Ventilation Fan Noise
That's more better. I went as far as I could go without gargling up the voice. Before: http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/fan_noise_clip.wav After: http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/fan_noise_clip_after.wav That's it. I applied a 150 Hz high pass filter to get rid of the lion's share of...

Re: Electrical Buzzing Sound
Who made the microphone and what is it? You're on a Windows machine, right? Sound Insanity on a Windows machine can be caused by Windows trying to "help" you with sound management. Make sure the extra services are turned off. Windows Enhanced Sound http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.p...

Re: Editing silence duration at start and end of track
I can't think of a way to automate it, but we may be able to make the manual method easier. How are you doing it now? I would create a silent clip and "Copy" it. Zoom into the first of the lecture. Drag-Select, Control-E ( on a PC). Find the first voice and select to the beginning of the r...

Like the left-hand side of this illustration... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/DCOffset.jpg That's DC offset and you can get rid of it with the Effect > Normalize tool. Just take the DC out, don't let the tool do anything else. You have to fix this before you start editing with that material. On...

Re: Altering my recorded voice to make it sound like "my" vo
I have another one or two. The first illustration above gets rid of nails-on-the-blackboard screechy sounds.
This next one was is designed to get rid of the sound a metrobus makes as it goes by outside your house. Low rumble.

Re: Altering my recorded voice to make it sound like "my" vo
I'd probably start with the Equalizer tool. Effects > Equalizer The line down the middle is a rubber band and you can grab it with your mouse and push it around. Up is louder. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/voiceEq.jpg This is a very simple three-point equalization. Put lumps up and down from left t...
