Noise Reduction Trick -- UNDO

We understand clearly the value in Effect > Amplify a noise segment before capturing a Noise Reduction profile. Then UNDO your way back to normal before you apply the tool.

Does UNDO undo the profile capture?

Are you sure?

Re: How Can I Remove Loud Ventilation Fan Noise

You can get away with lighting issues very easily because your head shifts easily between television and radio. Sometimes several times in the same sentence. It doesn't work the other way. If the sound goes away, you have no show. Noise Reduction has a couple of tricks. In any one show segment you n...

That's "Append Record" and it's only available in Audacity 1.3. If you get enough for a single show, you can Export as WAV to get a single, stand-alone music file that will open almost anywhere. You can also add the lame software package and Export as MP3 for your portable music player. Koz

Re: Wave stats

cos I want this procedure to be quick and easy So do we. What's the goal? You probably didn't wake up this morning yearning to find the RMS value of a song. Those are the buzz words of somebody trying to even out the volume variations of music -- or possibly match musical passages of different song...

Re: Joining pre-mixed MP3 tracks purchased on Amazon

"Editing" is a ten to one affair. Ten hours, on average, to produce a one hour show -- and that's if everything goes OK. Everybody who seeks to violate this rule falls into the same situation you suggest: "You know? I bet I can tighten up that third edit a little." Of course, tha...

Re: Jump to any place ...

Like a video editor. I've been wanting that for a long time. I think that's what the time entry windows at the bottom of the work window do. If there is going to be a tool like this it's much more likely to be in Audacity 1.3 and not 1.2. Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported, patched, co...

Re: any other way besides a mic to record?

That Logitech is a USB microphone. It's plugged into the USB socket of my Mac. I make it look really easy, but that conference room is dead quiet and has no echoes. I've recorded several very nice tracks in there. We have done some television interviews in that room and they all sound terrific. That...

You never said what you wanted to record. If it's internet audio, then you need to follow those instructions forward.

Skype causes a lot of problems, but phaser effects isn't one of them. That's caused by you're needing to record internet audio. Where to start. -- Stop using Audacity 1.2. It has problems with modern computers. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/update.txt -- I don't know that you have to stop using...

Re: file recorded over 0db?

Once you pass the work through a lesser codec, the lesser codec characteristics rule. Through a quirk in the arithmetic, you can go beyond maximum loudness in 32-bit floating and have the work survive being reduced back down to "normal" in post production. You work in 32-floating so the ef...
