Re: How to change input level for Behringer UCA202

At the risk of re-singing the same song, you could write big checks only to find that's overloading, too.

Knowing the mixer is a good course of action here. Get the model numbers and we will tell you all about it.

Re: How to change input level for Behringer UCA202

I don't know that there is any easy way out. The UCA-202 uses "hi-fi" sound levels as its basis for operation -- like those that come out of the back of a cassette recorder/player. From memory that's -10 dB or 0.315v RMS, etc. Nobody will be amazed if the output of a crusher rock band mixe...

Re: Sudden distortion when recording

How are you transferring your LPs to Audacity? It's easy to get that wrong with a Windows Laptop. That and you might be suffering from Windows trying to "help" you. Windows Enhanced Sound http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=41179&start=0 And last, do you like to reco...

Re: No audio on recovered files

There should have been billions of files, not 320. You apparently recovered the picture files that make up the blue waves (not all the files in the pile are sound). If you closed Audacity after you failed to save, Audacity would have gone 'round and "cleaned up" the capture files. You shou...

Re: need help for the best quality

Can you post a bit of the work? "One two three" at normal volume and "ONE TWO THREE" at what you consider distorted higher volume. In Audacity 1.3, Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono (if it's not already mono). Then Export as FLAC. If you're not in Audacity 1.3, you should be. Koz

Re: Gray Commands

Almost always happens when you Pause a recording rather than Stop.
You may need to press stop twice slowly until all the graphics settle. Then the tools should be OK.

Re: RECORDING LOW BACKGROUND MUSIC W/ VOICE

Many people think audio files are automatically MP3 because there are so many of them around and it's familiar territory. MP3 should not be used for audio production because MP3 causes sound damage. Export as WAV instead. You may get sticker shock at the amount of hard drive taken up by WAV files. T...

Re: Audacity 1.3.13 OK with Windows XP?

Unless you can point to firm, unquestioned benefits from the upgrade, stay where you are. 1.3.13 is still moving and support may be a little interesting. The shift between 1.3.12 and 1.3.13 is very serious, and there's talk about making 1.3.13 vanish. Oddly, I might upgrade to 1.3.12. Versions befor...

Re: Final CD levels Too Low

And not once in there did you tell us what the show was. That's important. Live performances captured with aggressive high quality are too low. Nobody ever issues a music CD without serious loudness processing and management, so if you're comparing a Nine Inch Nails CD to your live capture of the sa...

Re: Phase Shift 180 degress an annoying sound to cancel it

So the short answer is you need to find out where the noise is coming from. I'm with the lighting people. You can even get regular tungsten lightbulbs to "sing" if you like to keep large lighting system at half-brightness through a dimmer. We have large desktop computers that have one part...
