Re: Can I get back my original file after I edited it
If you still have Audacity open and you saved a Project, then UNDO should bring you back to normal. If you Saved the project and then closed Audacity, the original work is dead. Audacity Projects do not save UNDO. Where did the song come from? Can you acquire it again? You should Save your work as d...

Re: Audacity for Macs and silence Generator
You need to understand we get postings from a very wide variety of users, some of whom know what they're doing and some just took the shrink wrap from their first computer. It's good to know where you are in the firmament. You don't get this? Picture 1.png Audacity 1.3 has that little down arrow to ...

Re: Audacity for Macs and silence Generator
Maybe you're calling a job by its wrong name. Did you really want to "Insert Silence," or did you want to cover up a portion of dialog with silence? What is the exact job, and you don't have to use technical terms. Describe the show. "My mom likes to curse in her dialogs and I have to...

Re: Exported track does not open
You can have troubles with files containing punctuation marks -- particularly slashmarks. Write dates like this: 20110413. Not 4/13/11.

Re: Exported track does not open
It's possible to "force" Windows to show you the full filename. That goes a long way to solving oddball problems like this. This may be a little ratty because I wrote it for an earlier Windows, but this is the idea. No power user should ever let Windows hide information. Hidden File Extens...

Re: Help: Audacity Records Outside Sounds
That's what that wiki posting tells you how to do. Unfortunately, the wiki covers multiple different computers, so it's a little rough to slog through, but it does work. The process gets more and more difficult as your Windows laptop gets newer and newer. By the time you get to Win7, they make it ve...

Re: Help: Audacity Records Outside Sounds
You are recording the laptop's built-in microphone. So I understand, you were recording YouTube or some other internet audio and were getting room noises as well? Recording Internet Audio can be amusing depending on your machine and how new it is. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Recording_audio_pl...

Re: Sudden distortion when recording
And I have never recorded from the internet so I have not tampered with any of those settings (whatever they are) Recording sound playing on your computer involves recursive sound pathways -- running the record and playback services of the computer at the same time. If you forget you did that, you ...

It occurs to me you don't need the USB version of the mixer because you already have a UCA-202. Connect it to the "Tape Out" of the mixer.

Re: How to change input level for Behringer UCA202
No because Audacity only works with one sound device at a time and assumes global volumes across that device. You're rapidly working yourself up to a money-based, multi-channel software package and hardware processor/mixer. Particularly given the past post where you plan to do this a lot. We have ma...
