Re: Bit and Sampling rates - Real or Imagined?
So for me the million $ question is whether the better colour in the 24/96 recording compared to the 16/44.1 recording is worth the extra cost of a soundcard and the significant increase in storage space required. Mmmmmm. Yes it is. If you can hear the difference then it's worth the extra effort, p...

Re: Bit and Sampling rates - Real or Imagined?
I'm rather surprised that you were unimpressed with the Edirol UA-1EX as it should be hugely better than the on-board sound card. If you can hear it. Nowhere is the monitor and speaker system addressed and if the music can't make it out of the computer into the room, then nothing you do will make m...

Re: Sample Rate Error Message
I've been known to clear that particular version of the error by opening and closing the preference panels having to do with that -- Quality and Devices -- and restarting Audacity.

Re: Strengthening vocal recordings
Commercial recordings have compression applied to sound more "dense" and "loud." You can get something of the same effect with Audacity's Effect > Compressor, but the grand champ of this kind of effect is Chris's Compressor. Chris's Compressor http://pdf23ds.net/software/dynamic-...

Re: Previously recorded track records onto new track
It doesn't "bounce down." You're actually recording it that way. You like to record YouTube and Internet Audio right? Those are the exact wrong Windows settings if you want to record a live microphone performance or do live audio production. Stop recording from Stereo Mix or Mix Out or wha...

Re: Bit and Sampling rates - Real or Imagined?
what does Audacity do to upgrade it to 32 bit? What can it do to enhance the quality of the sound? Those words are more slippery than you think they are. Super High Sample Rates and Bit Depths don't necessarily increase the quality of the sound. You won't suddenly notice that the sparkling quality ...

Re: How to change input level for Behringer UCA202
The most expensive part was probably the box. Or the four Saturdays it took you to build it. Not that it would take you four days for the actual construction, it would take that long to shop for and buy all the extra tools. Nobody ever has too many tools. My last mini-circuit board construction pro...

Re: "Not Responding"
Which Windows? Which version of Audacity exactly? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program That's harder than you think. Audacity leaves files around so updates to the program do not make you change all your preferences every time. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Audacity_Preferences Does Au...
