Re: only records in mono
That's better. Try plugging into the Blue connector. The Arrow pointing into the fan. Change the Windows settings to pay attention to the Line-In instead of Mic-In. The Pink connector, the microphone symbol, is mono and is not the one you were using earlier. Windows Control Panel http://audacityteam...

Re: only records in mono
Do you get two blue waves and one of them is silent? Or only one blue wave... Oh, wait. You're in Audacity 1.2. We tell people that the first time their computer does something wacky, upgrade to Audacity 1.3 from here... http://audacityteam.org/download/ Audacity 1.2 is really old and no longer supp...

Re: only records in mono
I am using a cable with 1/8" stereo plug at one end and 1/4" at the piano end. I have a PC. I plugged the 1/8" into the mic port on my pc. That worked the first time when I downloaded Audacity, but now it doesn't work. Am I still doing it wrong? I would expect that the 1/4" Mono...

Re: Listening through receiver while recording (newbie)
Many turntables also have an analog output in addition to the USB connection. Connect that to the receiver "Tape-In" or "CD-In" or "Tuner-In." Don't use the "Phono-In." If the turntable has no analog output, that's the end of the story. ============ Yes, the t...

Re: Files too big for upload
32 is considered the lowest for a mono show and 64 for a stereo show. Lower than that, almost everybody can hear distortion.
You might be able to mix your show down to mono and reduce the files sizes to half. Past that you're talking about splitting up the show into acts before encoding.

Re: Frequency change detection
First, the answer to the question you didn't actually ask, Audacity doesn't do anything in real time except record and play and some very minor timing functions, so no, you can't use that to tell you about the progression. Second, impacts are extraordinarily difficult to analyze. Even with tricks, I...
Re: Recording
It's almost always caused by recording from "Stereo-Mix" (or whatever your computer calls it) instead of Line-In or whatever real-world device you're using. This is the setting needed for recording from the internet (YouTube, etc). If you're not recording from the internet this time, those...

Re: Sudden distortion when recording
Your system could have sailing just on the good side of failure. Anything evil, like delicate corrosion of the USB connector, drying out electrolytic capacitors, computer power supply getting "tired," Humidity going up. Anything at all could tip you over the edge. 5v is not a lot to work w...

And if the Flash software insists you apply MP3 instead of WAV or other high quality format, you may be using the wrong software.
