AUP isn't a sound file. It's a Project management text file.
To get a sound file, you need to Export one.
Select five or six seconds of simple sound and then noise by itself. File > Export > FLAC files. Attach that to your posting.

Re: Audacity is introducing background hiss into my WAV file
When you start changing serious system settings like that, restart Audacity or the new settings may not stick.

Re: Audacity is introducing background hiss into my WAV file
There is no "44." The real number is 44100 which is the slightly odd number that Music CDs use. Television sound uses 48000, 16, Stereo.

Re: Audacity is introducing background hiss into my WAV file
I have separate software which I use first to combine MP3 filess and convert into a single WAV file. What specification was that file? That's what you're matching. Right click the file > Properties > Advanced or Summary. Why audacity is introducting noise since WAV is supposed to be loseless. WAV i...

Re: failure to record
If you didn't get beyond the first illustration in that web page, then you can leave Audacity closed. The sound isn't getting from the turntable to the computer. That will need to be solved first. On a newer Mac, you can opt for the analog method instead of the digital USB. One of these... http://ko...

Re: Way to recover editing changes????
That's called Edit > UNDO and both versions do that just fine. Audacity has an "Auto Save" feature that last time I asked, doesn't work.I was wondering if Audacity 1.2.6 has any kind of auto-save that would allow me to recover changes made while editing

Re: Way to recover editing changes????
Audacity 1.2 was not very good at that, which is why we recommend an immediate upgrade to Audacity 1.3. In any event, when you close Audacity without Saving or Exporting, all the changes, temp clips, UNDO, etc, vanish. They're "cleaned up" so they don't take up drive space. Another common ...

Re: Audacity is introducing background hiss into my WAV file
Audacity still will not edit MP3. You can't change a compressed audio file natively without very serious damage, so Audacity doesn't try. It converts the music to a high quality internal format for editing, effects, and filters. The Problem, again, is if you need a new MP3. It's the recompression th...

Re: changing one's voice characteristics
Would that have worked better if I'd said an "English" accent? They're all the same you know.
It's far worse than that. She's a method actor and ran around the room to get the "breathless" bit. It worked perfectly, of course.

Re: Audacity is introducing background hiss into my WAV file
Probably Dithering. Edit > Preferences > Quality > Conversion. Audacity does most of its work in a sound format different from the original work. It "uprezes" the work -- particularly if you're mixing WAV and MP3 material. Audacity will not directly edit MP3. It's going back down to delive...
