Re: Help with audio quality
If you fail to destroy your old shortcut icon in the Doc on the bottom of the screen (or on the side if that's where you put it), it will insist on opening up the old one. Re: Help with audio quality
FYI, now when I try to use the noise removal, i am hearing sort of a high pitched clinking in the background. Sounds worse than the actual light noise that was there before. I have it on the lowest setting so clearly that's not the issue. Noise removal is a violin. Good in trained hands. It is requ...

That's what you mean when you say set to 50hz. But I'm not sure where I'd set the "rolloff" of 24 db...where would i find that? They should all be on the same panel... Screen shot 2011-04-27 at 1.00.00 PM.png You are in Audacity 1.3, right? Mixers generally don't bother with 50 Hz. Nobody...

Re: Help with audio quality
USB cords normally work or don't work. That hasn't been our experience at all. We do group conferencing and people keep insisting on using USB microphones on extensions in the middle of a 5000 foot long conference room table. The result is "holes" and hash in the voice, not complete failu...

Re: Extracting specific audio
No. The best you can do is sometimes create a mono "karaoke" track from a song with the Vocal Removal or Center Pan Removal tools. The success rate isn't very good.
There is money-based software that claims to be able to do this.

What kind of computer is it -- down to model numbers?
Have you selected your three characteristics in Audacity Preferences: 44100, 16-bit, Stereo (for one example). Did you restart Audacity after you changed settings?

All the Google hits go straight to the AT2020. This may be like the Logitech Desktop Microphone which doesn't have a model number because there ever was only one.

Behold, another of the problems of a USB microphone. 2M/six foot cable restriction.

Oh, wait. This is running on a USB extension cable, isn't it?
See what happens to the noise if you take the extension out.
