Re: Clean Up background noise, etc

You should be able to push a tape machine audio outputs directly into your modern Mac. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MacLine-In.jpg It needs this cable. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MiniStereoToRCA.jpg Some of the older Macs wouldn't do this, so tell us all abo...

Re: Hi, I have 2 questions!!

Configure your system correctly before you ask any further questions. The audio mis-match you have could be causing multiple sound problems. It's pretty serious.

Re: Hi, I have 2 questions!!

This failure is usually produced by the connection to the laptop. You can't connect this kind of service to the Mic-In of the laptop. Some laptops have the ability to switch one connection between mono Mic-In and Stereo Line-In, but most don't. We have one laptop that actually has a blue Stereo Line...

Re: Using Audacity Components

Most audio programs -- indeed, most editors, video or audio, have the ability to zoom, select, and do content management. I'd be surprised if you found one that didn't.

Re: Using Audacity Components

No, but what's the other piece of software? Graphic management is one of the harder things to do in a program. It's highly custom to the work that the program is doing. Also keep in mind that Audacity is doing this on Unix/Mac/Windows and most people can't tell the difference. A lot of work was need...

Re: Clean Up background noise, etc

The general rule is if you can't hear or understand the performers now, we're not going to be able to do much to help that. If we do any good at all, it w...

Re: Signal to Noise Ratios / Intensity Normalisation

All that and you may already be up to your ankles in the "loudness war" that TV commercials have. All the sound meters read proper, but somehow the commercials always seem to be louder than the show. At one time, the advertisers pushed the idea that they could be as loud as the loudest par...

Re: Why no Audacity export format?

I believe Apple AIFF also retains much more structure and metadata. All these formats are loss-less and cause no sound damage at all. The differences are all around the edges.
