Six (5.1). But you won't be doing it in Audacity. I believe you can get Dolby AC3 Surround into Audacity, but you can't get it out.

Leave Audacity closed and open up Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input.

You have 'Line-In, Built-In Input' selected, right? Does that dancing blue ball sound meter go all the way up on the distorted peaks?
