Re: recorded a mix but bass to high?
You recorded this into the Mic-In of your Windows laptop, didn't you? That connection was designed for one of these... http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCHeadset.jpg The mixer output is stereo (did you notice you only have the left channel in your headphones?) and is much too powerful for that...

Re: MIDI Interface
MIDI is musical machine control. You can't directly listen to it. I am encountering a significant delay and sound aberration using Audacity and/or SONY Acid Pro to record from my Yamaha YPT 300 keyboard. On your Windows machine? You're listening to your sound card output, right? You should be able t...

Re: recorded a mix but bass to high?
Were you recording a live band? Those are famous for overloading the microphone and killing a recording. Once the data maxes out in an overload point or musical note, you can't some back in post production. Mix the track down to mono, Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono. Then select four or five seconds a...

Re: Cancelled Export, Most of Project is Lost as Silence
Since Audacity 1.3.13 is relatively new, I flagged you for attention by other forum elves. They will want to see you. Have you added filters or effects past the ones natively installed with the download? You can install a ratty special effect program as a filter and bring Audacity and Windows to its...

Re: Cancelled Export, Most of Project is Lost as Silence
I would have exported as WAV rather than MP3. MP3 causes sound damage and it's permanent. WAV is a perfect, uncompressed format. Also WAV doesn't have to go through the compression step and may have been a lot faster. You may have sealed your fate when you aborted the MP3 export. I'm betting that pu...

That's hard now.
Can you write anything to the destinations that were refused? If you record a ten second piece, does that start working?

We can only go with what you tell us.
Dashes and Underscore should have worked. Those are correct. Are you running out of room on the drive?

Re: Cancelled Export, Most of Project is Lost as Silence
I went to save the project and it said that the destination was unwritable. This can happen when you put punctuation marks inside a filename. 20110508. That's today's date, not 5/8/11. Also... Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported, patched, corrected, or updated. Audacity 1.2 can be unst...

Re: Question
You can Export an MP3 file and one of the options is Quality. As you reduce Quality, the size of the file, the MB will go down.
The lower limit is 32 for a mono show and 64 for stereo. Lower than that, there is great sound damage.

Re: Multi Track Editing
Nope. That doesn't work. I'm not sure how to do it with Projects -- if there is a short way other than copying and pasting.
