Re: can't remove hissing from voice

Probably not. The two options for noise removal are to try to remove the noise from everything which makes your voice sound like a martian with a head cold, or cleverly turn off noise reduction during the time your voice is present which leaves you with a hissy voice. Hiss is very bad. Noise reducti...

Re: Import mp3 from Olympus voice recorder -- playback too f

The difference between the show length you were expecting and the one you got is the amount of compression or processing in the file. It also means that Audacity didn't understand the file. Step one is stop using Audacity 1.2. Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported, patched, corrected, or ...

Re: Cannot DL Lame v3.98.3 for Audacity on Windows.exe

Just for form, did you get Audacity from here... http://audacityteam.org/download/ You should get Lame and FFMpeg from the same place. Don't bother with Audacity 1.2. Those are the only stable releases. Do not try to use older software combinations or add-ons. It may be worth downloading Audacity ag...

Re: How to overlap .mp3 files

And now, the cold water. Audacity doesn't actually edit MP3. It converts songs into its own high-quality format and edits that. The trick comes when you want to make another MP3. You get a second layer of MP3 compression damage and you can't stop it. It's a very common complaint that "my songs ...

Re: locating "change_pitch".ny

First, you should probably be careful about learning on old code. Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported, patched, corrected, or updated. Audacity 1.2 can be unstable on newer computers. Download and install the latest Audacity 1.3 from here... http://audacityteam.org/download/ You can ins...

Re: Reverb for Enclosed Spaces

Rooms generate comb filters. Any reflective surface. As frequency goes up, the position of the waves either cancel or add and the effect repeats at multiples of the frequency. Classic comb filter. The object of a large room (and vibrato in the performance) is to either have the math all happen below...

Re: Applying effects taking forever!

Audio (and video) editing is the magic place where people find out their older PC may not be up to the job any more. Two problems hit at once: The files are huge compared to the vacation pictures or spreadsheets you're used to, and everything happens in real time. The computer can't say "wait a...
