Re: help for a novice

I am new to audacity and have win7 and the latest win audacity installed. It's dangerous to use fluffy phrases like that. Numbers are good. It's possible to download Audacity from the wrong place and actually have the wrong version. Current version is 1.3.13. We don't want to hear that you have &qu...

Re: How To Import Audacity Files From Another PC

It should be possible to open an Audacity Project as long as you have the AUP file and the /DATA folder in the same location. Your regular Audacity version and higher should open up the show. What will kill you is if you used external music files in your show. Those will appear as blank segments in ...

Re: export as 32 bit float

The internal format for Music CDs is 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. If you do your Audacity production in that format, the burning and authoring program doesn't have to do format conversion to make the disk. The natural WAV export is 16-bit Microsoft PCM which does the conversion for you if the show is alre...

Re: roll and punch in audacity

The old Audacity used to have problems, but not 1.3. Audacity 1.3 has Append Record. Stop when you make a fluff. Delete everything after the fluff. Press Append Record (Shift-R), and Audacity will pick up at that point without a second track. You know Audacity will allow you to post Labels on the fl...

You almost told us what kind of headset you have. Model Numbers. You can't give us too much information and detail.

Re: How To Export Into Flash??

That's a money-based license similar to MP3. That and it's an animation program, not an audio compressor. http://www.adobe.com/products/flash.html It used to be you could submit your work to YouTube and then download the file after YouTube got done encoding it. I don't know if that's Flash any more ...

Re: File too big?

They are about 1 gig and they're already mp3's. Surveillance footage? Audacity doesn't edit MP3. It converts the show to a very high quality internal format and edits that. How long is the show in minutes? Stereo? Room on your drive, defrag, etc, etc. What Edgar said. You need to have at least 20% ...

Re: sound quality

If you're trying to capture music from a Music CD, you shouldn't be doing it in real time. Use CDex or equivalent to "rip" the CD into WAV music files and use those.

Re: Can a newer Audacity version be installed on top?

Audacity 1.2 and Audacity 1.3 are designed to peacefully co-exist on the same computer -- although you can't use both at once. Audacity 1.3 Projects will not open on the less talented Audacity 1.2.

Re: Import mp3 from Olympus voice recorder -- playback too f

Audacity supports MP3 format very well. I'm betting that's not what you actually have.

Audacity 1.2 has severe problems with OS-X. Do the version update and install FFMpeg.
