Re: Keyboard Yes or No

Try control keys instead of command. Most of the development work is on PCs and sometimes they leave the older control keys lying around.

Re: One of 2 mics doesnt work on my Imac but on my Macbook

Does the Macbook have phantom power on the microphone input? Heck of a question, that. Until yesterday I would have said no, but with the further information that our computers support an iPhone headset, I would have to say yes.....but. With reference to this adapter... http://kozco.com/tech/audaci...

Re: Wireless mic buzzing loudly. Any ideas?

Who made the microphone and what's the model number? We went through, and are still going through painful adaptations with our radio microphones. When the TV channels went digital, they shifted their frequencies around and "stepped on" some of the channels we used to use. There are web sit...

Re: Recording Skype Calls For Interviews??

On Windows machines, it would be Pamela Business or Pamela Professional (not the other two) or Total Recorder. http://www.pamela.biz/en/products/ http://www.highcriteria.com/ You can't do it without specialized software. Skype takes over your sound channels and normal, well behaved software doesn't ...

Re: One of 2 mics doesnt work on my Imac but on my Macbook

The three pins on the bottom of a broadcast microphone are magic. The easy one is pin 1. That one usually connects to the case and forms a metalic shield or protective box around the microphone. Most times it doesn't have a dedicated wire inside the microphone cable. It's connection is through the b...

Re: any ideas on how to increase volume w/out distortion?

No. It's an external package that Chris wrote with Audacity plugins in mind. Just a note, if you're going to be a purist and insist on no distortion, then what you have right now is a good as it gets. All compression, volume management, and "thickening" of the sound creates distortion. The...

Re: CEntrance MicPort Pro Audacity and Mac OS X

If you have any trouble past those simple changes, you should probably upgrade to Audacity 1.3. Audacity 1.2 doesn't get along very well with OS-X. Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported, patched, corrected, or updated. Audacity 1.2 can be unstable on newer computers. Download and install ...

Re: CEntrance MicPort Pro Audacity and Mac OS X

A good start is to set everything to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. That's the Music CD sound standard and it's a common as dirt. Restart Audacity if you change anything like that. While you're messing around in Apple > System Preferences, do you get the bouncing blue sound meter when you select your device...

Re: saving work

Yes, and I know many people who do that, but to slightly different file names each time. Music1.aup, Music2.aup, Music3.aup. That gives you a way to reverse course if your show really takes a turn for the worse. It's good to remember that Audacity Projects do not save UNDO. Also, the AUP file isn't ...

Re: Selecting PC Hardware for Audio Recording?

Since many posters don't know they even have hard drives, this may be more interesting than you think. Audio (and video) editing doesn't wait. When that B-Flat note comes down the pike, the computer has to find somewhere to put it right now, because there's going to be another note right behind it. ...
