The headphone jack coming out of the RCA to USB converter
Which is a what? Model numbers. You can't give us too much information.

It's a laptop, right? Does it have a built-in microphone for Skype or other recording?

Re: muffled voice

Post Production rescue jobs are usually terrible, so we're really interested in preventing a bad recording in the first place. There's no reason for a microphone, cheap or otherwise to suddenly sound muffled. Are you on Windows 7 or Vista? Those two have internal tools to "help" you manage...

Re: Help with a audio clip

You can certainly post a clip. Use the "Upload Attachment" tab at the bottom of your message composition window. Reduce your show to mono (Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono) and export a FLAC file. That's the most efficient way for us to hear what you have. You should be able to get 6 to 8 sec...

Re: No audio on playback

I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.7 and am unable to hear audio on playback of my Audacity 1.2.5 project. Can we assume your playback does not have bouncing green lights and blue waves like this... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_playback.jpg Is there anything else I can do to recover my interview? Re: Importing MP3 files not working?

I missed that movie. Gargly/Bubbly/honky? You exported as MP3, right? Try exporting again only this time increase the quality of the compression. Export > MP3 > Options > Quality. The default quality is 128, but you may need to boost it into the 200 or 300 range to not have additional damage. M4A fr...

Re: Win XP change in system

Again, generally, if you plug in a USB Sound Card and Windows can play it, you should be able to open Windows Control Panel and make sure it's visible and set for recording. Then set Audacity Preferences for the same thing.

...can't be found by the OS. So you can't listen to CDs and YouTube without Audacity? Generally, if Windows plays music, Audacity can be made to play, too. Maybe not record. Recording music play on your computer is an extra series of steps you need to perform. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Reco...
