Re: Normalization of stereo tracks
Adobe Audition has link check boxes for both Normalize and Amplify. [X] Amplify Lock L and R [X] Normalize L/R Equally Both default to checked. They consider, rightly in my opinion, that a simple change in volume is very different from a theatrical balance change. Normalize is the really tiny tool w...

Re: Distortion on recording to Line in (Win7)
Exactly that. However, the search for nirvana (the place, not the band) has given us several live performance microphones with "hot" output: -40 to -44 instead of the usual -60 (thousand to one). The tone test generator from Shure... http://store.shure.com/store/shure/en_US/pd/productID.10...

Re: Export Quality Problem
If you were exporting MP3 successfully with the old Audacity, then you got lucky. MP3 creates sound damage at all settings and you can't stop it. Re: HELP! Missing audio during recording sessions.
Do you get the right amount of flat line in place of the dialog? Or does the end of sentence one meet the beginning of sentence three with no interruption (for example)?
Where is the dialog coming from? Connection information, microphone type, part numbers? Which Windows?

Re: MP3 Exporting
We may need to wait for one of the Windows Elves. The different computer families have different problems with extra software.
We're doing this little dance because MPEG1-Layer 3 (MP3) is a paid, licensed product of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft company. It's not free.
Little known facts.

Re: custom made deadcat for large diaphragm mic
Remember, Bruno also bought a very good microphone and he plays very well. Those two can cover up a lot of sins.

Re: custom made deadcat for large diaphragm mic
It's pretty easy to vet the effectiveness of a wind screen. Try the microphone with and without screen and smash the two sound tracks together. If there is an obvious tonal shift, you get to decide whether or not you want to use it. The blimp and the furry animal on a stick contribute no tonal shift...
