Re: Normalization of stereo tracks

Also, the "-" (minus sign) has been removed from the interface
That was good for a lot of furrowed brows. "Wait, how come it went the wrong way...?"

Re: Export overwrite WAV

It's all gone. It sucks. Which is why you never, ever, ever record over or "step on" original live recorded sound files. Those get duplicated onto backup media and saved somewhere safe. As you produce or edit your work, you can save it as progressively increasing backup filenames. MyShow1...

Re: Removing a 'glitch' from audio recording?

I don't hear anything obvious wrong with that monolog.

Describe it. Like "a pop just before he says 'Inexcusable.'"

Re: Selection Cursor Locked into Seconds

We'd much rather have problems like this than a "magic" problem where none of us can figure it out after weeks of work.

Re: Vocal removal -- using newly recorded vocals?

The problem is you're going by content. Your head is unscrambling the room into spoken words. If three people were speaking and only one in English, you would be able to pick out most if not all of the English words. Software, which doesn't speak English, would be dead in the blizzard of waves and s...

If you get one to work and you're happy with it, post back and tell us. This is a dialog, not a help desk.

Re: Time/Date Stamps

Audacity is not a surveillance recorder and can become profoundly unstable with very long shows. Audacity does not have rolling time and date stamps. The only way I ever found to do this is is with SMPTE Time Code which is a rolling time signal you can place on one of the Audacity sound tracks and p...

Re: effects greyed out

Where is your library? If it's in Windows Media, they may not be WAV files any more. Windows Media compresses down to M4A for internal use. You might be able to install FFMpeg on your Audacity and open the music files that way. You should use FFMpeg from this web site only. Some of the other version...

Re: background noise while recording

You should probably look around in Preferences and make sure you're not recording the laptop's built-in microphone.

Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input.

Audacity gets it's sound from the computer, so whatever the computer is doing is what gets recorded.

Re: Audicty is recording things IT shouldnt hear

OK, This one should be fun. Both of your pure, unmixed sound tracks do this? Each clear voice track (say Left) has a "ghost" on the other track -- the right? You can get around this by splitting the tracks, throw away the trash and mix the remaining, but that doesn't explain why it's happe...
