Re: reduce size of mp3 files
My thoughts are you violated one serious rule about music. You should have saved the music in the highest possible quality on a drive somewhere and created lower quality versions for your players. Later, when the player or formats change, you can go back to the very high quality music and make new v...

Re: Rookie Question
You can also get that if you like recording YouTube video sound. There is a Windows setting called Stereo-Mix, What-U-Hear, or Mix-Out. If you record from any of those, Audacity will get the combined sound of the whole computer. All of it. Set in Windows Control Panels. Change to recording from one ...

Re: removing periodic drive spin up noise
You can have other, similar problems. There was once a USB sound device on the market which would generate "spin-up" noises clearly in the show by interfering with the USB power supply. It wasn't audible until you played back the track -- or listened to the "live" show on the com...

Re: Help for Newbie
There are MP3 editors that can cut and paste without distorting or causing sound damage to the show. Audacity doesn't edit MP3. It converts MP3 to a high-quality internal format and then produces a completely different MP3 on Export. Every time you convert an MP3 to something else, the compression d...

Re: Removing a 'glitch' from audio recording?
Did you record this on a Windows machine? You posted in a generic forum so we can't tell what kind of computer you were on. What kind of microphone and did you turn off Windows' auto volume control and conferencing tools? Newer Windows machines have conferencing and communications tools turned on by...

Re: Removing a 'glitch' from audio recording?
No, or at least nothing I would call a glitch. The performer is sitting too close to the microphone and has some slight P popping in his speech. Also there is some background pumping. Did you record this with a device that has auto level setting? That can create some odd effects in a voice, particul...

Re: Audio very low - how to increase?
You could also stop using the analog connection completely. I have a very nice USB microphone.
