Re: Recording guitar?

You can do that if your laptop has a microphone or you plug a microphone into the connection (usually pink) labeled microphone. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCLaptopSound.jpg Or go with a full-on recording system with microphone, mixer/preamp, etc. You can't plug your electric guitar direc...

Re: Recording question

You may not even need that if the laptop has a built-in microphone. Yes, this would be relatively small potatoes for Audacity. Anything the Operating System "knows about" you can record on Audacity. Which microphone beyond that is a doctoral dissertation. Audacity has a list of file types ...

Re: Synchronizing sound recorded at different locations

use the time record function to get the best possible start! If you've never done this before you can be remarkably sloppy and still have the cadence of the show work. You also need to know that the response to a question is going to happen one Skype® late and a conversation is going to happen two ...

Re: Making a Piano Sound More Stereo (plugin help?)

This example is on the wrong frequencies, but it shows a graceful transition by gently spacing the sliders.

Re: Making a Piano Sound More Stereo (plugin help?)

Again, no plugins needed. While your channels are split for the delay/stereo effect, apply the equalizer independently to left and right. Effect > Equalization > Graphic Eq. On the low side pull down the sliders above about 400 and on the high side, all the sliders below 400. 440 is the "middle...

Re: Recording from Stereo Mix

The two standouts that come to mind after all this are the straight-forward idea that your sound card is broken -- or your drivers or support software are broken or not up to date, and you may have too many settings. Do you use Skype or other communications software? Skype viciously reassigns sound ...

Re: Making a Piano Sound More Stereo (plugin help?)

We warn people to only install the plugins they're actually going to use. One plugin that doesn't feel well that day and Audacity won't start.

Re: Making a Piano Sound More Stereo (plugin help?)

You can get a very presentable fake stereo effect by simply delaying Right only without Left. If you listen in headphones (no computer speakers, please) your playing will become deep and wide as you increase the delay. You can finish off the effect with a very slight echo or reverb. If you do it rig...

Re: 1.3 Where do I choose the source

Where is the TV Programme? On the TV across the room from the computer? You can get stereo USB adapters to plug into your computer and the TV Stereo-Out if it has one. Remember, we can't see your room or computer.

Is your computer a laptop? What is the model number and who made it?

Re: Help - vital file is unreadable

You missed an important word or two. You Export as WAV or you Save as Projects? If all your work is Projects, then your AUP file and your DATA folder have to exist and be in the same folder or directory. The AUP file is the show manager and the DATA folder has all the stuff to make your music. You c...
