Re: corrupt Zoom H4n file

Does it open up in anything else? QuickTime, VLC Player? http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html You have a fighting chance if you crash out an uncompressed file. Chances are some of it survived and is recoverable. Modern compression methods compare all parts of the file to each other. Any ...

Re: Playback while recording stopped working

Do you have Skype or other VOIP program? This sounds like Skype messing with your sound pathways.

Re: Recording a phone call

Total Recorder may be able to do this in the same way they can record both sides of a Skype call.

Also StepVoice seems to be designed for this..

1.3.12 FFMpeg backwards compatible?

I found myself needing the FFMpeg software and the Audacity on this machine is 1.3.12 for Mac OS-X. 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo 2GB Memory Snow Leopard OS-X 10.6.7 Lame installed perfectly first time out, but I have no idea where the installer put FFMpeg. Audacity can't find it and I'm not so sure I can...

Re: Raw Voltage from the sound card redux

Audio in general is varying voltages both plus and minus. That's why the blue waves go to plus and minus with zero in the middle in this illustration... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_playback.jpg So if your instrument will respond to both polarities of voltages, you're golden. Or you woul...

Re: Help i have no clue what im doing :((

First strike is it's a Windows Media file, so Mac people will need VLC Player to hear it. I didn't try opening it in Audacity. I don't think it will. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/VN550081.WMA Have fun. There is no suitable way to use any of the voice management or noise suppression tools...

Re: Blank Project when MP3 is imported

You may need an editor that doesn't try to mount the whole file at once. If it's an MP3 file, we've been recommending MP3Split. http://mp3splt.sourceforge.net/mp3splt_page/home.php When Audacity opens up your show, it will generate somewhere between 40GB and 50GB of work. That's why it's not loading...

Re: Bit Rate, Audio Sample size and Audio Format (CCITT A-La

Last time I had to do this...

Depth/Rate Conversion
-- Change Project Rate (Hz) lower left > 44100
-- Track Name > Set Sample Format > 16-bit PCM
-- File > Export > Format > Other uncompressed File Types (or whatever you want)

Re: Blank Project when MP3 is imported

The filesize only counts if it's an uncompressed file. If it's a highly compressed MP3 file (for example), the actual show could be multiple hours long and could exceed the capacity of your machine. Audacity doesn't edit compressed files. It converts them to a very high quality internal format and e...

Re: weird crackling and white noise

Is that Phantom Power light really on? Turn it off. That sends out battery voltage to special, high end, Phantom Power microphones. It will drive everything else nuts.
