Re: Pause Functions the Same as Stop
Does it do that with both the "P" shortcut key and clicking on the pause icon? You are completely sure you're using Audacity 1.3.? Which version exactly? Just to cover the bases, you've restarted your computer? Try downloading and mounting this short (6 sec) sound file. Does that work? htt...

Yes, they did throw us a curve there. It's not a Pro, is it?

Re: Help with mixing the best from two sources
Ear Bleeding Loud performances are a very special capture case. Even with the volume controls and switches all the way down, sooner or later you're going to overload the actual microphone capsule giving you crunchy sound and clipping even without the red bands in Audacity. Ribbons microphones just b...

Fascinating. Most Win7 installs are missing Stereo Mix. We gave up recommending people search for it.

Re: Can't Export
You are way into the critical system folders. I'm not shocked that the Mac wouldn't let you put music files there. Something else doesn't make sense. Do you have a disk drive called 'Audacity 1.3.13'? 'Volumes' is a mount point for your disk drives. It shouldn't have applications in there. File > Ex...

Re: Recording from a Digital Piano
My big Yamaha keyboard only has the headphone output. That's how I did this... http://www.kozco.com/tech/organfinale.mp3 I use a 1/4" stereo plug to 1/8" stereo plug adapter cable and plug into the Mac Stereo Line-In. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MacLineIn.jpg That's the circle w...

Re: Left & right channels reversed
I thought I could copy the file and paste it into Itunes but that doesn’t work. Something is very wrong. That file opens up in iTunes just fine. Click on the KozCo web file > File > Save Page As > Save. Control-Click on the file after it arrives > Open With > iTunes. Let's get that working first. I...

Re: Ripping Audio from a DVD
Even if you do rip the files, you still have to figure out which ones are the AC3 Surround and which ones are the PCM Stereo, assuming the movie has one. We regularly produce Stereo AC3 hybrid files to save space and many movies do that, too. Now you need a way to decode the Dolby AC3 stream. You co...

Re: Remove background noise
You are recording the laptop's built-in microphone and not the USB player. Close Audacity. Make sure the USB player is plugged in and on. Desktop > Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Pick the USB device from the list. Close the panel. Launch Audacity. Audacity > Preferences > Dev...

Re: Creation of Original Content
The content is entirely up to you. It starts getting sticky if you want to supply the Audacity Program itself to others, but there's even provision to do that correctly. If Audacity performs correctly and in a beneficial manner, you might consider contributing to the effort. http://audacityteam.org/...
