Re: Pitch shift voice

Is there software to create sub-harmonics? I know there's no such thing in analog electronics, but in digital...

Put a frequency or narrow range of frequencies in and it will produce octave-down versions.

Re: Drop down box that includes stereo mix etc. not working

Newer Windows machines are business computers. They gave up on the idea of making them all multi-purpose computer/business computers. It was a nice idea, but it just didn't work out. Stereo Mix and the other variations make the computer sound system unstable. I'm sorry, it just does. It opens up mul...

Re: Why do my recordings only sound good in my head phones

That depends a lot on your speakers. Nobody thinks very much of "computer speakers." To get an equivalent free-standing speaker system to your headphones requires several hundred dollars of hardware and amplifiers. Plus, you need some way to get the music out of the computer. Macs do very ...

Re: Recording Problems using Griffin iMic and Audacity

... isn't this likely to be a simple impedance matching problem? Possibly, but I don't think so. The SM58 will produce killer voltages at its output when you sing loudly. There are provisions for sticking fixed, resistive attenuators in the mic cable to knock down the signal and avoid overload of t...

Re: Removing tracks and noise

It's not unusual for people to post wanting to "recut" a song. There's only one tool that can help and that's Vocal Removal. It fails most of the time and even when it succeeds, the only thing it produces is a mono music track without the lead singer. Most of the time, it doesn't work righ...

Re: Cannot export WAV: disk full

You can have wacky characters in your metadata, too, not just the filename. DId you put an "&" character inside the Title or Performer field? Crosby Stills Nash & Young? Forbidden.

Re: Cannot export WAV: disk full

Did you put wacky characters in your filename? No punctuation. Upper and lower case letters, numbers, underscore and dash. That's it. All other characters fail either immediately or when you try to send a file to someone on a foreign computer. Dates usually kill people. Today is not 7/5/11. It's 201...

Re: Drop down box that includes stereo mix etc. not working

Recently downloaded Audacity So you're not in love with it yet. Good. Stop using it and download Audacity 1.3. Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported, patched, corrected, or updated. Audacity 1.2 can be unstable on newer computers. Download and install the latest Audacity 1.3 from here......

Re: Record Left and Right rear channel audio only

You need to give us a hint where the channels are now. Analog cables across the floor? AC3 bitstream? Three stereo audio files? Broadcast television?

Re: No recorded location

You probably should be using Audacity 1.3. Audacity 1.2 may lead you part-way into a project and stop working. It can be unstable and it's so old, nobody is working on it any more -- so that would be the end of your show. Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported, patched, corrected, or updat...
