Re: One mic on each channel of stereo input?
It would totally work...if that's what the computer is actually doing. Computer makers desperately try to smoosh the difference between Mono Microphone Input and Stereo Line Input. This is a thing I wrote a while back about the difference. Unfortunately, the computer makers used the same plug for bo...

Re: no effects
This is one of the good reasons to use Audacity 1.3 instead of 1.2. Audacity 1.2 assumes you're smart enough to select some audio before you apply an effect to it. Audacity 1.3 knows you aren't going to select anything if you want the effect applied to the whole show. So either upgrade or select som...

Re: finalizing WAV file for use on car or home cd player
I'm not strictly a Windows Elf, but I stuck with Audacity 1.2 for a very long time (on Windows) until the better tools, filters, and effects finally drove me to upgrade. The more sophisticated Noise Reduction tools alone are worth the process. We don't offer very good support for Audacity 1.2 and so...

Re: Oversampling in raw data
Just a note that variable area sound track in the illustration has significant distortion. I thought it looked funny. The Real Thing -- for audio anyway -- doesn't ever go to all black emulsion.

Re: very confused
To follow up, anybody can transfer Music CDs to anything else. Very basic knowledge of Windows Media or iTunes is all that's needed. The turntable just needs you to put the required disks in and press go. This also gives you a hard copy of all your vinyl music in case you drop your iPod into the can...

The methods that involve the computer all require that you attain some proficiency in Audacity or some other audio program. Do you want us to step you through it? That wasn't the question you asked.

Re: Left & right channels reversed
When importing a file in Audacity, If I import it as an audio file the channels are correct. If I import it as a raw data file the channels are reversed. Oh, that's good. I need to try that... I also noticed the Apple seems to internally convert the file to an “aif” when it is imported. OK, stop a ...

Re: finalizing WAV file for use on car or home cd player
finalize in Roxio Which Roxio? I don't think we ever asked that. The Roxio that comes free with CD burners is designed to make you want to upgrade to the paid license as soon as possible. Mine left out some Music CD management tools I couldn't do without. Once I got the "real" license, al...
