Re: Need help with noise reduction
Audacity can't split a mixed performance into individual voices, instruments or sounds. Noise Reduction fails if both sounds are changing. You might be able to find a tiny section of the recording where the train speed didn't change and you didn't move the recorder. Noise Reduction works by getting ...

Re: Stability on Catalina?
2.3.2 works... Are you super sure about that? Screen Shot 2020-06-26 at 7.42.29.png https://www.audacityteam.org/macos-10-15-catalina-is-not-yet-supported-by-audacity/ Crosses in support was the reason 2.4.1 was rushed out. If you're on Mojave or High Sierra, I'd probably stay there for a while. Koz

Re: New to auditions, lots of testing and can't get the recording right for ACX check
two mono channels or one stereo channel. So it looks like two different devices in mono? 2i2-a and 2i2-b? Does Audacity see it as two devices? If it doesn't, then Audacity is going to enforce that 6dB mixing trick and you lose half your volume. Do you get the same apparent volume when you mount it ...

Re: Removal of consistent noise throughout a 1 hour recording
I would have a faster processor and graphic card There is a caution there, too. I think it's still true Audacity can only use one core of a multi-core machine, so that's not a place to look for stunning speed increases. You will get neck-snapping acceleration by changing from a spinning metal, mech...

Re: New to auditions, lots of testing and can't get the recording right for ACX check
There's not a lot of discussion about needing mono versus stereo, the only real problem is how to get there. If Focusrite provides software to make a stereo 2i2 "look like" a mono microphone, and it doesn't have the two volume restriction problems I posted, then go for it. It should give y...

This is the commercial alternative to the KTS. https://voiceoveressentials.com/product/porta-booth-plus This is the model and concept I used. Up until these two, prevailing wisdom was soundproof the whole room or find a closet. There was no middle ground. The KTS was not $200. Note they both wrap ar...

Re: New to auditions, lots of testing and can't get the recording right for ACX check
ACX recommends posting in mono. Stereo if you really have to but you must be consistent within any one book. Stereo shows take up twice the storage space and it takes twice as long to post and download them. "But what about music" someone asked. There is no music. Audiobooks may have very ...
