Re: Art dual Pre question (hiss?) - new user
Microphone or any audio amplifier produces internal noise. It's usually smooth hiss like rain-in-the-trees with no emphasis on any pitch or frequency. Screen shot 2011-07-26 at 7.50.50 AM.png That's not what you have. You have hash generated (probably) by some digital process in or around the comput...

Re: cannot record from rca to line in! error message
The only connection between the mixdeck and the computer should be the USB connection. Or maybe not: Outputs (all stereo): Main (balanced XLR & RCA), Booth (RCA), Record (RCA), Deck 1 (RCA), Deck 2 (RCA), Cue (1/8” & 1/4”) ... ... Control MIDI software, with no timecode needed, via USB I th...

Re: Art dual Pre question (hiss?) - new user
Did you buy the external power supply? That's not normal preamplfier noise. There is a very pronounced peak in the noise at 121Hz and the frying sound in the show is "gritty," not smooth like normal amplifier noise. I think you're listening to something "digital" in your system. ...

Re: Crashes While Exporting mp3
This sounds suspiciously like a memory error, but it would be good to do the drive check first. Defrag -- Right Click Start > Explore > Right Click Local Drive C: > Properties (Used, Remaining) -- Tools > Error Checking & Defragmentation If you make it through all that, then it's memcheck time. ...

Re: High pitched squeal
When you start these recordings, what do you do to make sure you're getting a good show in Audacity?

Re: High pitched squeal
Let's nail this down a bit. You recorded the first "show" and Saved it as an Audacity Project. Then you started Audacity fresh and recorded the second show and saved that as a Project. OK, so far? So now you have two AUP files and associated _data folders, etc. Open the first one and expor...

Are you in Pause instead of Stop? Pause will cause all the effects and tools to be gray.

Re: USB Turntable with Mac
You may need to tell the Mac System where the turntable is. Desktop > Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. See if the Turntable or USB device is selected there. Select it and play something. The blue ball sound meter should bounce. Close everything. Go back to Audacity...

Re: Audacity Error While Opening Sound Device
You should tell us exactly what you're trying to do. There's billions of things that can go wrong, and the only way for us to help is for us to build your show in our imagination and then suggest solutions. Macs are pretty simple creatures compared to the others, but we do need to have some idea of ...
