Re: Acx newbie - Budget acoustic treatment?
To try and be more helpful. I wrote this Kitchen Table Sound Studio. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=369938#p369938 That's the idea, except in the closet, you can cover all four sides and don't forget one folded up on the floor. For extremes, double it up. That's what this is. https:/...

Re: Audacity for iPhone
Your roommate in the dorm is going to produce the Android version, right? History is dripping with collaborations like that.

Re: Audacity for iPhone
the moderators wouldn't want me to bring a dead thread back to life. This is good with a reference to an earlier post. The very worse thing you can do is tag to the end of somebody else's existing post and take the post in a new direction. "My problem is exactly like hers only different."...

Re: Acx newbie - Budget acoustic treatment?
Both Audacity and ACX have provision to submit a sound sample for testing. ACX calls it their "Audition." Do that first before you read through a large book and make permanent, non-recoverable mistakes.

Re: Acx newbie - Budget acoustic treatment?
Have people had much luck reading off their phone in airplane mode? I don't know. They posted on the forum with a strange noise and we tracked it back to 4G connections. Typically, if the poster solves the problem, they don't come back. I guess if Airplane mode turns off the radios, that would work...

Re: Acx newbie - Budget acoustic treatment?
Scarlett interface. Stopped one short. Plugged into what and does it make noise? If you can tell your computer is on just by listening, it's going to be a long day. To bring the ACX standards to earth, -60dB background noise means your room has to be a thousand times quieter than your voice. No hom...

Re: Help with somehow improving reverb in a voice recording?
This will be a little work, but maybe I have a partial solution. I used two Audacity windows. One had the show you posted. I selected the echo tails from words with long gaps after them. I collected them (copy/paste) in the second Audacity. The show in the second Audacity is just echoes, no speech. ...

Re: Need help with noise reduction
If you absolutely have to do this kind of show in real time, there are two microphone tricks. NPR discovered a novel use of long-distance shotgun mics. You use them short distance. This is good for pulling a good interview out of a very noisy environment. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/Shot...

Re: Help with somehow improving reverb in a voice recording?
there's not enough furniture to give me good acoustics. This is the furniture you need for good acoustics. Screen Shot 2020-06-26 at 11.28.16.png Those Victorians knew what they were doing. Most people hang blankets, record in a closet, or make a tiny studio. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopi...

Re: Need help with noise reduction
Was this a video? You didn't say. If it was you can use a Hollywood trick. They have a thing called "Looping." where the performer sits in a quiet room and watches segments of the video again and again (looping) and announces clear perfect replacement words matching up the lips. You take t...
