Re: Is is possible to record directly from Panasonic recorde
You probably can't do that. If for no other good reason, the player is stereo and the computer is mono -- and there are other serious problems. We've been recommending the UCA-202 as a cheap way out. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/UCA202.jpg You also need to know that the old music tapes may out...

Re: pitch contour
But it's not in real time. Audacity doesn't do anything in real time except record, play and certain timer functions. That's it.Audacity 1.3 has a spectrogram view for each audio track.

Re: Couple equip. questions...
Since you're building up to music production, you probably want a USB connected sound mixer that has provision to mix the computer playback with your voice (for example). I see the newer ones come with a fader knob with Live Performance on one side and Computer Playback on the other, so you can over...

Re: Couple equip. questions...
The Behringer D1 is a Direct Box/hum rejection filter. You did leave out two really important items. 1. The Computer. If you're on a Mac, you're good to go. If you're on a laptop PC, there's no way to connect the mixer to the computer. 2. The Room. Have you ever tried to record live microphones befo...
Re: New Guy
Let's take this another direction. I did get it recorded with the converter onto my computor but I want to get it into Sony Acid Music or at least Sound Forge but it is an unsupported format. It is an PPP file. How do you know that? Windows likes to hide file extensions, so the fact that it says &qu...

Control-Click the file > Open With > QuickTime Player.
Then press Command-I to get the INFO panel. What does that say?

Re: Playback Glitch
Audacity only follows what the sound card is doing. There are feature requests posted from people that want Audacity to apply effects and tools while recording, but so far, no. Try making a simple recording in Windows Sound Recorder. Windows Sound Recorder -- Start > Programs > Accessories > Enterta...

Re: Clipping while dubbing with usb card
You said you do not get the red overload lights on the sound card. Try pressing the PAD button and try again. The SX-8 microphone is a moving coil or "Dynamic" type. You can generate very high signals with a dynamic microphone, way higher than you could with the simple computer microphone ...
Re: effects
The programming people will drop in shortly, but I doubt it. The only way you can get multiple effects, or a string of effects is with the Batch tool, called "Chains." Chains is a relatively rudimentary process and all the tools aren't included. http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?tit...
Re: effects
The two ends of your sentence don't seem to match. You want to use one effect over multiple audio tracks, or you want to apply multiple different effects on one track?
